Welcome back to chronicle live. -- operate joined by Michael almost year. Mark -- -- Jose Mercury news. Favoring -- the president and CEO of the Sharks. Greg Jamison how -- -- -- I'm -- area Greg's I'm doing here we haven't seen you since up opening night I think. I can't decide -- -- quickly are very slow I think you'll love this season work yeah I think you're ready they were ready -- it or not -- -- overall year last year you got a 117 points this year very large had a 113 at. You played well early he'll -- before and after the Olympic break but then you want eight 81 and want on your last and how do you assess the team going into the Stanley Cup playoff -- first of -- I think we have a very good team and animated as much as we talked about the disappointment of last year that's we've invested very well chronicled we talked about a lot. We did -- it would -- if you changed I think the changes have actually been very very positive obviously heatley. But do you think about them hold throws in the Nickels and the young kids have come up the couture isn't to mirrors. The begins its really made a big difference and I really like our team like the spirit of our team like that. The way they go about their business and we think we have high expectations go into the playoffs this year and that we think is gonna Goodyear I mean everybody in hockey has high expectations no matter what show you watch previewing the playoffs it's all lie and about golf and Marleau and Thornton to finally achieve it. In the post season. As a franchise as the leader of this franchise how do you handle that because it's not just your. Playoff loss last year that's the one that's most precious than most debilitating probably but it's Bennett since the lockout you guys have not done well. In -- post season as the as the leader of the franchise -- you try to attack that enormous pressure. Every day. We go at it every day we talked about it every day we talked about how we can improve the team. We talk about how the team plays you know at the end of the day we have had some very good seasons we haven't had quite the. Playoff success that we want the fans want but you come back and do it again his disappointment last year was here we are again having an -- another great regular season. And now we're gonna go to the playoffs -- high expectations and I firmly believe that we're gonna get over the top but you you can't give up you can't go into the fetal position. That have yet to play another season and here we are again going about it and I think that we're gonna season's success. The great always wondered you know is is everything like kind of out of your hands now viewed as you've set this up and now you just put in place. Or over the course of the playoffs do you ever have to step in and make decisions about things and and you go in to -- that sort of stuff. No I think it didn't did that when you really couldn't consider all the happens in the course of the playoffs it really comes down to the coaching staff and and the players and especially the players on the ice and I mean everybody plays a role trainers equipment people obviously -- general manager. If we need to be involved with something new than there were asked to be you do that we may step in. But for the most fight for example would blow that -- whether you media day can be anything from should be fly out tonight or tomorrow or are you okay can be an end as -- as true does that may sound sometimes that -- have a big impact -- rather go out and I -- an issue is do we stay here. Those types -- decisions that need to be made. But where they when you come right down to it it's the players on the guys who are -- bring -- -- -- leave it all on the -- and the coaches ever in both of those groups this year got a great job. Let's talk business a little bit that this kind of what's your receipt here and ultimately though it's funny games it is it is a business. How important are they the playoffs for you economically what what percentage of your total revenues do you generate. In -- post season and how much money is on the line for the franchise to win at each subsequent round of the playoffs well there's no question that that the playoffs helps significant. They when they get right down to do the exact numbers it's gonna vary depending on how many games you've played on the whole game so much justice for the opposing team. The other thing is since the collective bargaining agreement in the in nineteen in 20045. That part of the playoffs actually go to fund that. So wasn't quite -- not quite as good as it was before the lockout in regards to that. Because some of more dollars for the NHL to help pay for the overall CPA. That's kind of complicated we have. Wisdom was so every home playoff games -- the million dollars to a team that's not well I don't think that you could. Go that way I mean. What did that it is gross before expenses that you know there's a lot of different ways to interpret that you know we have a Tennessee's offense stuck in net dollars that that's probably more of -- my assumption is that's a gross dollar capability in revenue for a game and then you got -- expenses. That always goes the NHL would you know the traveler. -- -- etc. -- -- part of that. How good the Olympics. Boost your business afterwards I know you shut down their for a couple of weeks right when you ahead. America's sporting attention after the Super Bowl before baseball starts to -- it's a curious time to shut down your league but. And people -- so end of that that the Olympics this year did you see just by Greg and your numbers that you make more money. Up per game after the Olympics than before well I'm gonna say this though and only mean one of the -- the -- it is we are blessed we have a great fan base. So we sold out forty games is your out of 41 so I. So somebody gets fired for that -- 100 sold out. You know throw -- we get along really don't know. -- I think this guy was the wanna -- like there on a but at the end of the day when you consider. We're blessed by that we may have sold a few more Olympic jerseys -- we are ratings here I was coming out well Brady -- you know about the same but I think we made it changes this NCAA this year I think some fans had a difficult time finding an early I think we were done a lot of those situations. There's a new number on the dial now that we've gone forward. Would this but I do think that what it really did was have brought it may be the nation more indoor hockey. You know you consider in Canada 46 million had a 33 million tuned into that game that's that's 80% of the country right there. Well we we did a pretty good number here in the US and then and then on the radio but the number of fans at the tuned -- and we think it was great for hockey great for the NHL. Because a 140 NHL players -- played in that tournament is so we wanna try to build on that. Luckily we had eight olympians four of a lot of gold medal one of one of silver medal with they get help them all vote but after the Olympics and it looks a good. But what but the season finish good and within his very positive. -- -- -- -- go on Russian Warriors for the -- the big question really wanted to participate and you are on the board of governors and you'll have a vote. I need some more information call -- back at. But I wanna I wanna get a little bit more to get -- out of the assorted information reelected or well what do find out. -- I wanna make sure that it's that set up right I do understand by the way from a player's perspective. Let me think. You went to Japan and you went to Salt Lake City you into. Italy you into Vancouver. What about Russia. So I think that's a real strong argument -- I really mean that saw I think it's a big consideration I like the fact that our players compete in the Olympics. If you'd asked me during the six game losing streak after the Olympics I might have hampered my opinion at the moment division they -- one. I'm okay oh yeah Irish soil but there is more information is positively settlement because if you show the games live what time -- -- -- -- going to be there come into it goes -- -- decisions need to be made. And how well the IOC handle that I would go to a doctor. -- more of your guys played in the Olympic Games than any team in the NHL you sent age -- and maybe they did find their second win here to finish strong yeah hopefully you're gonna play. For more rock you -- -- sixteen more games you may have to play 28 more hockey and -- are. Are are you concerned that at some point you know maybe in mayor later. That the guys that did go and play those extra games will be a little bit leg -- well it it it it was discussed but I think they've had some rest. The first concern that we got by -- except when Boyle and into the boards I was very worried there was no injuries coming out of the Olympics that's a big concern right then the mental fatigue. Comes in in the physical the -- I think we've passed those tests -- now. I think this team is ready to go I think the way we finished -- likely be finished I like the faded. This season finished. And it took the fifth shoot out stop by Nabokov. To get one more point. That matters to win the Western Conference I think that was very positive and took -- Brad Stuart's shot at another place all right you know to have to throw that game so did when you when you -- what you really boil it down it was a great season right -- -- the -- -- has a lot but in the way you want -- last year faster you -- and -- you're not playing well the last couple -- this is exactly right we are seeing answered the decisions -- -- -- about -- rumbled for -- smart -- -- -- Davis said the president and CEO of the San Jose Sharks.
