8.9: Stanford, Luck back to work; practice begins
They've got the nation's best quarterback in the pre season ranking it number six in college football and on Monday Heisman Trophy candidate Andrew Luck in the Stanford Cardinal. Took the field for their first fall practice and 2011. The cardinal are trying to continue their success after last year's twelve and one season in Orange Bowl win. Having luck for another year makes the job easier after a spectacular 2010 -- could be the number one overall pick in the points while the NFL draft. Hi John -- -- as -- Stanford central. And I. Andrew Luck was right where He said He be on day one of Stanford football practice in a cardinal Jersey. As sharp as He looked on the field what was a little Fuzzy when asked to describe the difference between the practice pace of former coach Jim Harbaugh and new coach David -- I have trouble remembered at practices a year -- I can -- saves but we had good practices so we'll -- soler on the other and you know when -- hazard so it's tough but there had just felt very similar not. To onlookers lots passes seemed uncharacteristically pinpoint. But not to look himself and I did make a lot of mistakes. Definitely not perverts and owners are thought from. So there's use is pushing -- to be as good as He can be. And and thank god he's He has the personality and temperament that He has because He would expect nothing different. The presence of Andrew Luck in the lineup seems to more than make up for the loss of eleven starters in the minds of national poll voters. Stanford goes into next season -- ranked as the number sixteen in the country very much in the conversation. For a national championship. Obviously we are distorted goes -- is the immunity failure we don't play so we want to play for goes so obviously we want to play for each other. Safety Michael Thomas is one of those eleven returning starters and they all seem to be at the most critical positions like safety. Linebacker. Left tackle and of course quarterback. The darker leaders coming back to a lot of position or not -- a rookie running backs or tight ends coming back. But you know there's eleven guys on the field incidents attendance all the guys that are coming -- realize that and the guys are trying to play realize that's I think -- it's good you know motivation for for everybody sort of get on the same page. John Henry Smith Comcast sports net. I just how good was Andrew Luck -- one example how about a 41 touchdown to interception ratio last year to go along with completing nearly 71% of his passes. What has a lot to live up to do and we'll get his first chance with the cardinal opener September 3 against San Jose state at Stanford stadium.
