You guys on the press release -- the Oakland a's here. Both pleased and proud and happy to. Announced that Bob Melvin assign you a three year extension to manage the club for them. Going forward. Is. Most you know you came in June and inherited very challenging situation. We didn't -- his -- -- you -- the players. One guy did know was myself. And I can tell you use an incredible. Asset to me at that time. He's been incredible asset to via the entire organization and I think that. In speaking to the players and and everybody's worked around them we feel extremely fortunate that -- He was available. And we hero to acquire his services. An -- acquire the next three years. There's some you guys also know I've known Nomar previously and we played against each other and had a lot of respect form in Seattle and Arizona. -- maintained contact with him over the years and I can just tell you. As much as I had respect for him. His previous jobs then things she's done previously having worked for them over the last elements. Have more and more respect Foreman once again extremely proud and pleased that he's. Decided to stay for the next three years. And without further -- I don't know what your own -- questions -- -- Bjorn say something well at first and foremost I'd like to thank. Your organization Lew Wolff Billy has been so great to me here really is made it's so easy. In a difficult situation where you come in and like Billy said don't know the personnel. Really don't know anybody here. And to feel at home. In the light that I have at this point really is is been remarkable to be. Part of such a storied. Franchise was such a winning history. Growing up watching it. And now being part of this I can tell you that no one's going to be more frightful in putting on this uniform and honored to have this uniform and on each and every day. And I look forward to. You know going forward three year deal means it's three years. In contract yet nothing's promised to you the next day. So this is gonna make me work even harder and be more committed to the situation at all already to me is the perfect situation it's. It's a huge day for me my family and my daughter -- even made it here today even though I think she's still looking for Brad Pitt Jonah Hill and those people. But. You know to be able to to share that with her being here today Tuesday is special in. I'm very chronicle today. While Alex is a load off your mind even so the way it is easier to look -- and plan for the future knowing that -- unity air while. What's easier answer the questions now without having to qualify myself all the time but you know I always felt good about this from from the first day I really but. You know going forward that I would have some trepidation in and you'd worry about you know. Going forward we haven't won as many games as I would like to win I wanna win every day. But. Is just felt right in in a lot of it has to do with you know how it he's -- made me feel here. You know from the people in the clubhouse loose and Mickey in the -- you know nick the trainers fitted in really the players have made it easy on me so. I never really thought too much about that I'm just come to work every day in. And try to do the best I can. To get us ready to play baseball games and you know I haven't really thought too too in depth about that we've really tried to stay in the moment and stay staying each and every day. When you guys get to the. Offseason have you guys talked about the relationship how much input possibly Bob will help with you Billy for the ballclub for next year. Yeah you know one of the beauties of and once again knowing him him Bob knew each other before but one of the things. For myself David -- and the front office and and even Lewis said. The communication between me about them and I to talk to. More times -- that I talked to my wife. I mean it's really it's really ever Brill. Stimulating relationship I mean Bob's got a lot to offer I think one of things that. I really appreciate is that he's -- he's got great ideas. -- and who is I've been really amazed really help. That's seamless you know you know not only are professional relationship has grown but are. Personal relationship as well also absolutely I mean. You know we've we've I think we agree on things and I think we have an idea what it that it takes. Put together a good club going forward and and so. Bob's a part of every discussion we have been and -- once again has been very fruitful relationship from behind closed doors. Billy back in June when you when you first brought in Bob was part of that decision knowing that He could be potentially a long term fit here. Well I think you know -- I think you got you know that was a very sort of chaotic time for us. Would you know I was actually and I go back -- -- -- over remarks what I felt really fortunate guy of his caliber was available that time it's not. It's not the ideal time to go out looking for got a manager club. And I had some reservations. That you know maybe for him you know given his. His background is in in my opinion his pedigree that where they're not you wanna take on the situation. So you know we're we're very very fortunate that He was available on that and once again from the minute. I started talking to Bob I mean it was just it is very very very positive and I felt great each and every day better and better every day I mean He really came at a very very challenging time. You know not just prepare for me personally you know given. I think it's so well document my relationship with -- and to have bought me you know here for about the organization to myself it's really been absolutely fantastic and place it has been a great great relationship. Bob you've been saying the last few weeks that if you're here for spring training can be all about defense defense now if you know you're going to be here for spring training He talked about over. Both are going to be all of. Defense we're gonna have to bring the bats out at some point and and you know we're we are very good on the pitching end of it it's it's what the priorities are gonna the end. Based on what we've done this year or haven't done defensively certainly needs to be a focus and -- When you focus on something you get the commitment you stay on top of it and make sure it's a priority and you instantly get better. And couple that with that talent that we feel like we have here being used to positions and so forth going forward. But that's gonna make us better you stay on top of it make it a priority but it's it's not going to be all about defense we we have to do some other variables well. We had a rupiah -- trip yeah. Students joke for -- Billy -- can hear the difference maker when you go after free agents especially hitters there's there's been some issues. With the stadium but could manager. It's up with three years on a contract. The eight -- did you know what one of the SS I got solicit good question actually I think listen when you know listen first and foremost. You know I think there are other issues that have have come up but I but I do think that communication I think and and when it comes to Bob I mean he's got a great reputation not only. Would this call already but throughout the league and so I would agree that He certainly would would be helpful in that sense. Bob well how special is this to use it for you just. You're your career has sort of come full circle from affect your Bay Area roots and did you ever envision. Maybe this. This happening this way. Well I will always sort of hoped that it that it would come full circle back here means something to think about as a kid you know where it. When your kid it's more on playing. On the playing noses opposed to coaching and managing it. It it really is a dream I mean you don't just doesn't are. Come -- the opportunities do this -- transient business to Begin with. Were you moving around a lot to be able to come home and do it in this fashion is just it just doesn't happen it's it's a once in lifetime opportunity so. I am very aware of that and very thankful for it.
