9.23: Chronicle Live -- Joe Pavelski
Sharks back on ice they are at home tonight. They are -- do other ready to play their second game let's bring in Joseph put Belsky from the Sharks Joseph 'cause it -- a long summer with no off hockey how does that feel to finally be back out on the ice playing with the teammates. -- it's been a busy offseason everyone knows there's a lot of new faces in our locker room and it's just good to get back in the Bay Area and get back into the shark tank and root for some hockey all right let's talk about this team and how they have moved forward. Last couple years you get to the conference final you don't get to the promised land of the Stanley Cup how much pressure is there on the Sharks as you start this training camp. Yeah I think -- there's low grip pressure to get back to where were we Wanda. Take another step then there was an easy get him back get back to the conference finals and you're able to -- We didn't make the step that we want -- so this year everyone you know they're still that sense of urgency and the team that's in the locker room. I trust each other a lot we're looking forward to get the season going and and that is that's the end result we want and we know there's a lot of work best owner in certain. All right Joseph you mentioned the changes that have gone out with team teal part of that is on the defensive on the Blue Line Brent Burns a new member of this team. Is the defensive side is that the side that really need to be shored up for the for the Sharks. -- I think. Job you know we had a tough start last you're -- spread around 500 for most of the season. -- after Christmas time. You know we came back and I think when we went on our run that was one of the best best parts of our game -- strong goaltending that the defense has yet. The offensive guys -- coming back you know to support every very took care our own -- first then -- had a lot of wind so definitely it's a big part every year it seems like seeing that. You know the defense gets a lot of credit for for the championship. Regardless of what's Warriors so its important for last week we understand that we take care of our own interest. -- this season for the Sharks know -- said -- know Danny Heatley they are gone how do you make up for that offense this season. I think you look at some of the players that come in and you know burns a ring analyze it make every forward batters as well as long as as well as the defense on. We argue the other forwards come -- and that are gonna sure up our lineup then. It's the north side everyone else ever on us to -- been a little bit more and and they're two great players and a lot churches and they're here and and in they contribute a lot to our success so the support everywhere steps out but guys are more capable and I think you look at all the moves and you know or we're gonna give an attempt. I hot goalie can be the key to any team at any point of the season but for the Sharks you start the year with Niemi in that a MacKey they're both injured. Are you guys concerned at all the guys between the pipes. Well guys in camp right now they've got they've been awesome and I can the first game two starter race He plays later really well and outside cast are -- it's you know the goal is gonna have to make their saves throughout the game regardless who's in net and you know we have to play let's play our game so it's definitely it's tough to lose and you know some top goaltenders like that but. They'll be back at some point in you know a part of coming back but the guys that are in. Between the -- -- you know more people. Joy your great polish American what your -- polish vote is a killer bossa physical one key is it -- and He. -- programs are pretty good got in those little bit more but. The -- pretty had so like just different guys like Darryl Roberts.
