Transcript
Surprisingly admitted it really depends upon we talked to Justin Smith obviously very professional about it saying cases one game we have to move forward big advantage at this. -- the other player is very excited to hear from Frank Gore and that He was -- he's coming off the field Eric Davis. Not surprised you called is this week you said there was a chance for the 49ers to win this game but I think coming back from 21 points down maybe isn't what you've had in your mind. Where did it turn for you I mean obviously that third quarter sticks out for what the biggest difference that their. One of the biggest if that third quarter was Alex Smith. Offensively if He wasn't playing well He would not playing well that halfway through that first quarter and if he'd -- He started to calm down. I -- He was rushing everything He wasn't waiting for routes to come open He was fidgety in a pocket -- positive He would looking at the rush. And worried about getting hit in the and He started to just trust that the offensive line would protect they were actually playing well -- -- I've played well this game. Alex come down started making plays and and that's really what happened to coaches. Didn't make any major adjustments that players executed and the same thing happened defensively they sort of stuck with it they were patient stayed with it. And it will. I hear that as a company line but the one thing that sticks out to meet at third quarters we saw Alex Smith roll out of the pocket more especially when you scramble to completed up 44 yard. Catch and run to handle high honor. Since you greedy thinking is maybe something a little bit more. By I think what happened was everything was clicking and -- the running game was phenomenal in this league you let us so many different levels when you think about how -- He came in this game. Yup -- is Frank Gore finished no he's not that little -- and Alex Smith come into a good team's home stadium and winning game. He might approved for the first time really that He can do it that it is second year in the league He went to Seattle when they -- a playoff team but just a huge -- on so many different levels and then. You -- -- offensive line on that last drive after just Smith what made one of the great defense that plays will ever see Jackie got Jeremy Maclin. Did the opposite line lined up and said we're getting yet. The yards here Frank Gore and they plowed over the Eagles defense is just a phenomenal win for this team that quite frankly know that they had this little. One thing for me as I ask Alex Smith they talk so much about this team and what is its offensive identity and He really said. It's really not about playing it's about -- seen you think about persevering and finding ways to win it certainly seems like the Colts are here. It's changing just after a few short game. They're expecting anyway. It's starting its its validating what the coaching staff is that telling them they have a sound plan. A -- believe you have the sound plan offensively and defensively and the players are seeing that if they do their part. Because the plan that mean anything if the players don't execute player -- in the -- and they did that you've touched on -- rolling out of the pocket understanding what's going on staying patient on that you know that bad snap. They basically rolling the ball away and situations not making the -- play not turning the ball over. These guys are expecting to win they expect. Regardless of the gods did that if they continue to do what you're supposed to do that it will work and it's it's showing up and went well. You know what is there -- place in this game that I really words over Jim Harbaugh and think Greg Roman. Really made a difference in the one was the slant to. Josh Morgan and today at the gets a blitz they get the ball out quickly touchdown so. They executed well also that third and seven on the touchdown drive that put them ahead. Who in their right mind when -- thought. Would seek another hurt him. -- the real tossed it taken a hundred and there was a play that they eat Jim Harbaugh talked about. They -- expected to see a certain look they knew that if they got that look they got the look. But that play would be successful it was pretty just a huge -- two huge plays there where the players really out schemed and out executed that you see. That's one more really quickly for you Eric and talk about. They didn't let it automatically always thought about that could change a culture that really how much is the intangible in a player's mind when you have a win like this how much is it. It changed maybe -- well I did it's it's sounds simple. But everything changes when the plan -- but all the Colts -- in the world means nothing if I'm losing games. If you are on the sideline telling me and in the meeting room and in the huddle they do it this way and you'll have a chance. And it works. You start to believe that much more the company to roll with the players start to feel that they are attacking the battle. With the proper too and that's what you're seeing in this club. They are expecting to win ball games that. That's important.
