Question for you regarding how the Raiders had a history of kind of you know getting guys that -- fallen out of favor somewhere else do you see yourself an animal like a rich scanner -- Monica in that regard. Not necessarily. You know I I don't do a whole lot of attention to what's going on in the media. So I'm not exactly sure how perceived that just try to focus on especially during the season. My my job and and exactly what's being asked me to read so. To me this is a new opportunity it's a fresh start. And it's something I can be more excitable. Carson Henry Wilford and with Comcast sports net Bay Area. I know you love the game I'm just wondering what pushed it to the point. To where you were going to retire as a player and something that you love so much. And do you foresee anything crossing you the wrong way to where you would contemplate. Retirement again if it's not going away. I don't. I'm excited I'm excited viewer and say this happen. You know I'm not gonna go into -- You know. Individual or certain things that it happened it's a fresh start I'm excited to be here. And you know for for me it for me to go into certain. Certain aspects what have in the past that's the past me now. Looking towards future and of course tomorrow morning. Certain meetings and get you know -- practicing and the next however many weeks this season lasts. Bet that's an awful so that's what we're about right now. -- -- -- -- Couple questions first one is you mentioned that your arm -- just fine you're healed and that is there any other injury concerns that your not -- from year and any kind. And the other question is in differences that you had you know challenges -- O. Line can master those guys but a lot of yards. What was the key is that and see that and on the London this race team. Yet to to the first question I'm healthy and Peters healthy. And and nothing lingers absolutely nothing it's been a long offseason for me. But as far as the chemistry it's a very young group of guys and and guys that I don't know yet everything I've heard today it's a hungry group. It's an exciting group it's a physical group fast group. Bit. I'm excited to have. As much influences like him these guys and take him under my wing and tellem what I know and from the coaching they're getting for him from the coach on the staff. That's a good combination and I'm excited to get to work. Germans don't Oakland Tribune you're -- -- a lot of people from the outsider looking in and you traded away your entire draft you know you just curious is it. Your response on. What you make it back in the term when compensatory picks and they and the possibilities of trading players to get draft picks if you think you need to get draft picks next year. And second. Apparently also is safety whose name I can't print outs from Cincinnati. And and did -- do it and -- and -- left and at least one player is there another corresponding roster move for bringing Carson. Nothing at this time. But no I mean I know that a lot of people think. We've mortgage the future of the organization I don't see it that way. I mean I don't think you ever mortgage the future organization when you put a real big time franchise quarterback going to take. I appreciate what everybody thinks but I am really concerned about what we think here. I think we're very comfortable. With that number two. Tony twelve or take care for me tomorrow. You know we get there I mean like you said there's potential for two compensatory picks we may get. I mean there's all kind of different directions ago means we have a very creative staff. And we know how to attack it head on and we will and we'll do whatever we need to do to make sure that we're very very competitive team. But obviously -- a huge part of that as we continue before. Person just very -- and -- -- and I was today when you Jason got hurt that day. You you can you know newsman -- the Raiders maybe -- here. No. In saw what happened it came up one and people look. That thought somewhat crossed my mind but I in a sort of you have. Carson while which it is from CSN California. Come -- He grew up in in Southern California and release that you really know much about this organization's annual -- -- -- -- -- -- that the -- -- If you know -- and open and so it felt. When. I wasn't watching games you know so the first thing you -- -- your interest the game. -- -- -- -- that I just I wasn't in the house watching TV it was an NFL fan of a particular team -- watch the highlights. My dad and my brother and I were another sport to watch Monday Night Football but I was outside I was playing any sport possibly play. Because there wasn't really -- team there was failure. They ran through there for a little bit in my childhood. But I didn't have a local NFL team and the closest one was maybe the Chargers are there. The two periods teams. I was in that in these four like you planned out -- people -- its history. Coach a quick question for you and we will forgive him. How much is your personal workload changed. Since the death of Al Davis. And could you see yourself as a coach slash -- a long term basis. On the head coach of the football team I'm not again I'm not playing GM -- know everybody thinks that. I again we have a team of people you know who was spearheaded by Marc Davis who and Amy trash those of the people I go to acts. And seek information war. -- solutions that things that I think will help our football team. So I'm not the acting GM on the -- this that that on the head coaches football team called plays it's. And make sure our defense stops so that's what I do. And I'm not concerned about that but whatever how. Whatever role that they need me to play I'll play because of it produce wins the normal for what I've been able to do is tie relationships. Together as we move forward I had a relationship in Cincinnati. So that helped bridge the gap to get some things done so that I could get Carson here -- and I'm familiar with it. On this football team. And I think that's what the most important thing I think it's about half an organization and have on the team of people. That are so good at communicating so good at working together that we can become one and that's what we've done I think more so many things that coaches that. I think this -- does this organization is growing by leaps and bounds because there's so many people that are so good at what they do. And were able to connect the dots on things as we continue to move forward that we get support from each other. And work together and get things accomplished. Rick -- 957 mechanic and coached his last ten days the passing of mr. Davis this blockbuster trade dramatic victories. And you've been the -- to sort of steer this franchise through have you ever been through ten days like this you know -- I don't know I'm excited about it. I don't I keep Tigers got a -- from doesn't find me look tired but this is fine. I mean I tell -- -- best when there's drama and all kind of stuff going on man come on keep it comment this is doing great that we can do and if there's a way. But I don't like to get players injured I mean let me make that point devil -- them but this has been a lot of fun for me. You know I. Again this about the people in this organization there's some tremendous people in this organization to work with it and I think you can see I keep telling -- -- become so. And that's what we're gonna do. Coach Lindsay Soto NFL network. You obviously have a history with Carson what is it about him. That makes you feel so strongly that he's a guy that's the right guy come in and lead this team right now. Because of my personality. In my vision through coach davis' vision for this organization. And what are the characteristics of the quarterback position is for ops. He has all of those characteristics that I know I've seen it up with this witness that I've been a part of that winning. This guy can play. And He knows how to play game and He knows how to elevate the players around. And there's no question that you go as you go on office division quarterback. And I think he's one of the best and that's why he's on this football team now. I'm bringing here because He was just a guy said not that brought him here because I think He can help this team win a championship. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Would any of any trade to any team that -- okay to you or would you be specific list did you. But unofficially approve of this deal before it was official. When you're in the situation I'm in -- you don't. You don't get to pick it's not like being a free agent if you get traded somewhere in here you go. So I didn't have a list of them have. You know set a set list of teams that that I thought this -- gonna happen with that in I was in unchartered waters but. Could not be happier for this opportunity and just success review with mr. -- can do that the knee injury happens we -- -- the game. Immediate did you know you're gonna need a quarterback right then and He can think of course and -- them alive after being thrown out by us. And in the course -- yesterday afternoon but because of your relationship. And knowing the -- think players like guy even before you got. I've always known that -- you know sense Carson had retired that He was out. Like you said prior to the injury I mean it was nothing. That we needed at that time we were OK at that position -- injury happened. Then you start searching through Albany I mean like you said it was a lot of names a search through. But again there was a process to -- we had to make sure that it was the right fit for us right fit for football team the right fit for the organization. The right fit for. Everything and that's what we did and again not just myself again mark Davis and -- -- so I mean we sat down and we talked about these things about where we needed to go. And the fun part -- I get to throughout those recommendations. They get to sit and think about it and Stew on it in no way led us to resist this illness it over to my right and I'm thankful for. Mark mark birdie again from the Mercury news straight here didn't. Appreciate it say about your decision when it's worth -- who was on the phone doing the negotiating business. With eventually you -- with a one of them or. We thought we all play a role -- that. I'm we are hot. And obviously I've talked to Mike Brown but trust me when it when He gets down that part of it's easy drop and Mike Brown have a relationship -- But I think several members of the organization and -- that -- a group of people I know that our negotiators had talked to a number of people. Mark good game and then Charley and Tom DeLay you mean. We all work together is not a -- well it starts with me because I know Mike and no pressure. You know but. Is not just me as Italian media asked them also you also have to give him permission to do certain. Fair enough in essence knocked out of the enough -- like I had in I appreciate the answer those. Are right this -- if it's it's so this is one. After this tournament uses victories treason. I think so what do you think is the second street. What I think there's -- and read it straight and I'll let you know we make it. -- -- -- -- -- --
