-- and everybody -- -- Of course when it matters. It's insider joins us here and and and the obvious consequences it's kind of -- happy don't have agents knocked around indoors and I wanted to a three year deal. I think it's great and I in my -- that our. Is this that. Team but right now we just want to make sure that we're focused on the playoffs that's the only thing you know I can't help Harken back to last conversation that I had with you trying to lock out. In you're in your wildest imaginations. Tell the truth. Did you ever expect this season play out this. You know I think. Knowing coach Harbaugh and knowing that seemed that we had him placed both on the field off the field I felt like we had a very good chance to win our division. And once you start getting momentum once things start to come together. Anything can happen in the NFL and I'm I'm not surprised we won our division. Because I know how much hard work is done and. -- gone back to Alex Smith here's a guy who's this is seventh year with the team there's been a lot of different obviously coordinators. Different head coaches. But you've been a constant through all that and he would be here unless he had your support what why does he have your support what he did he have your support going into the season. I mean Alex is a guy that he's always had talent he hasn't always had a great team around him and when you look at the way that Alex is his time. Come around under coach Harbaugh it's just it's something that you've seen it out for a long long time. And you don't just throw away quarterback because he didn't light the world on fire as a twenty year old -- -- -- first pick in the draft. You have to sort of separate yourself from use -- first pick in the draft in 2005 saves -- the best got to leave the team right now. Yeah absolutely it's the best at that tune in during that time in January and February after Jim Harbaugh was hired. Did you guys have conversations about it didn't surprise you that the Jim wanted to bring back Alex Knight didn't surprise me in. Yeah -- did it surprise me in some of the other offense coordinators made and not like Alex's as much as maybe I did some of the scouts did. And you see Jim in. He saw on Alex what I think everybody else off from scouting standpoint -- team. And you knew you have to build a team around your quarterback. You can't -- quarterback to do things that maybe don't fit his strong suit and you've seen our offense get built around what Alex has really well he's had a great season. What was there -- times in -- singular moment in the course of the season. That you came to the realization that this could mean especially here. I think anytime -- around Jim Harbaugh that you know it's going to be a special day and if you take it one day at a time and that's been -- and that's. How we're -- approach everything. If you take it one day at a time -- you have a chance to play in January and hopefully have a chance. And I -- -- thing -- -- your uncle -- -- that's such great success and hard luck it took him through tries to get it right to and it seems like. The third time's the charm here I wish that I hope so that's up didn't -- has been great and you know I see their relationship with you Trent. And you know at some of the guys from the old forty -- changes you don't hear about the Lindsey McClain to Jerry had a ways -- guys who were in the locker room in the weight room. You don't hear about those guys just that you don't hear about the Jeff Ferguson in the -- -- Thomas and guys like that. That the deal would you locker room and make sure that you guys get healthy we sooner. That's that's huge and we had that in and you know Jim has been able to really take it to the next level. The -- when you. Look back on this season and -- sort of caught us by surprise we're gonna have to pack up and moved to Youngstown for a week between the Cincinnati game in the Philadelphia game. The way that whole week unfolded and then what happened on that Sunday against the Eagles. How big do you think that was in just you know that the maturation of this team. That was a big big step for us because we hadn't really had a marquis and long long time. And to be able to come back from it from a game in and be able to win scored three touchdowns in the second half that was huge and I think not having an off season. You know and and being able to come together in sort of a training camp situation in Youngstown. Think it was really really good for our team and and you saw them really come together from that point forward. -- everybody talks about that. The best organizations in football the most stable organizations in football and you mentioned -- balky and now of course Jim Harbaugh as well. And we talked about building through the draft but I think it's kind of a given that. The teams that excel the team that separate themselves -- the rest of the pack other teams and draft well and rounds three through seven and pretty much. Everybody's got basically the same personnel in rounds one and two and I count -- eleven player. And -- -- about a 52 that's a big -- ever drafted from us through the concept some. When you're when you're thirteen and three people tend to notice that when here you know five and eleven people tend to not notice that. But that's what I've seen trend didn't you have guys that make the team -- except on the -- for you really making an impact. And I I know that old Smith wasn't. Unanimous choice from from all the critics. When we selected him this year in the first round. But you see what all has been able to do and you know that's what I've seen which for an instant he understands talent he understands what the coaches are looking for. And how to get the right players to fit our system and and be successful you know one thing about Jim Harbaugh we jump off the track of -- and other names that come about this -- Jim our president lets his coaches coach and anyone -- players that we talked to -- that Stockton. Has said that his position coach he's learned from his position coach and I think that's -- -- about legend has to Z does not involved here that's as coaches -- I think that's my philosophy and let Trent picked the players -- that coach coach the players and you have to see that all the way throughout your Bill Walsh always talked about I don't coached coached I don't go to players -- the coaches. And I see that GM and I see that trend from the scouting side he he coaches his scouts to attempt to really do what they need to do. And that that created an organizational people feel empowered. To make the right decisions and and you see successful on that does speaking of a bill lost before we get that off this that he did -- but I when asked about this you have a Twitter account. Now and the visual on your Twitter account is what I think we have pictures of that Wednesday here. That this was it was very. There is that I remember that day we've we've lost that game but I definitely remember that -- is a lot of fun. The real legacy either of those two from from bill any of course and and and your. Self as as it as we spread out she. I I was fortunate to grew up in a team that had a lot of success. And I think when you see team that has success you see how it's supposed to function. You know we haven't been there for awhile and and I think we're getting back to that feeling of we know what it looks like to win we know what it feels like to win and and now you have to just go do it. Jim wants things and Bill Walsh was able to do was he would lose top level assistance and that they would just plug somebody else and they keep on rolling. Paul -- hitter Mike Holmgren or whomever. Greg Roman has interviewed for a job at Penn State. Are you confident I -- can you do anything his ownership to keep a guy like that around or what is what are the contingency plans if a guy like that does leave. But I think it's I think I learned very early on I get to spend a little bit of time with bill when he came back to the team in the general manager role. And he always talked about if you want the best people. Did you only have one head coach you're you're gonna lose people but if you if you wanna have the best people you have to let them go. And I'd love to have Greg Roman here is our offense coordinator for a long time but I'm never gonna hold anybody back if they can get head coaching opportunity and that's what their dream -- And I know with your early on with what -- Mike Nolan. He'd lose Mike McCarthy and here come Norv Turner but that systems and always change was at a big priority to get a head coach and offensive minded head coach where. If you had to turn over on the staff. When the quarterback showing up and in March he's not learning a whole new playbook. I I think you know I talked about that we were really going into the coaching search that we -- an offensive minded head coach because you know that it ginger head coach. He can step in and be a coordinator if he needs to be. I don't think that's what he's gonna choose to do. But he's got the ability to do that and you keep the continuity on offense. And for the most important position all sports that you need that continuity for your quarterback and right now agenda going into the playoffs and this is a team that obviously hasn't feeling that. We can beat anybody and I'm sure was born and then -- I think it comes from GM and you know the nice thing to have you know two weeks until you play. That's two more weeks to get better at this -- And that's that's what -- -- you know let's get better every single day they're they're getting better you're getting worse. And I -- the guys working out today see everybody get ready for the game and and they're hungry they're ready to go so so -- nearly awake at night. Right now they're just a little bit of kinda. Composing that speech that you gonna give when. And handled the ball trophy. I'm just worried about tomorrow -- -- sure that you know we figure out who were planned and in the first divisional game. And and that's really what we're focused about a lot of these engines Gibbs your -- two weeks to prepare for anybody even in the alamodome to -- parts of the he's an attempt to me. Jim is a heck of a coach and he's active. And it as starter and being able to find little intricacies and and make things work and you know I think we have a good staff it. Some of Brad -- this week. You see things that come out and and I think you'll continue to see those types of things from a coaching staff -- and continued congratulations wonderful seasons and really appreciate your time. Not thinking yet and I got.
