Let's start does with the Giants and you'll both be well he'll be on the money you'll be in -- car heading to the Arizona desert this weekend what's cooking. Apropos this week because we lead off with Pablo Sandoval at once again everybody is concerned about the extra LB is that the panda. Appears to be toting heading into the new season had here's what he had to say about it quote. I don't care what people say about me I'm going to shut their mouth when spring training begins just because of seven pounds they say I am about seven pounds or nothing. But people like to talk I don't pay attention to those things. I'd like to see what the people were talking about me say when they see -- in perfect physical condition I don't have any that in my body truth this. I've gained more muscle mass I've been working to gain muscle mass and built -- I've never seen a body builder and I don't pretend to be but when you hit the ball with precise straight you have a good opportunity. To hit it any good so. -- you certainly can't argue Henry with the results last season even though public. Did appear to -- on a few more LB's it's -- September as opposed to what he looked like in March and April that said you have seen him. Your thoughts on the physique of Pablo Sandoval. I don't think human man I think that we saw in India and -- And he still looked like he had a little ways to go but but Bruce Poteat it actually said he looked better than he had two weeks earlier. When he -- down an Arizona and the fact is Pablo is talking about the other people were talking talking talking but. One of those people was Bruce Poteat made a point of telling us at fan fest that. That Pablo still had some of -- a few pounds to to lose and I really actually have no doubt that in the six weeks seven weeks -- For the season I think he'll be good option -- -- internally any concern. You know I think that we. We understand he's got work to do and he he's committed and I think that the the program that -- on -- on gives us a lot of confidence I think that his commitment gives us a lot of confidence thing is a very strong words because he's confident in his ability to get it. Get ready. Night no surprise Pablo -- asked about this very topic at media day last week in. Here's how he responds. This them well yes I am from. All. And I just start -- -- players are working now 6:30 in the morning wake up Brett. Ron like crazy. Anything or stop race was. Are -- starting all I knew that. Right now we have them the tools more way mama I just working hard. Be held before the season he'd be ready for the season. You know when you get into enough pro on you when you don't want style that's wrong. You have to respect and in Europe that they get that they about being right now smoggiest mark. Who the right things and on to those now while slow horribly because around the this season half a dozen -- through the year I have now we're down their offseason so. The loss to the -- you know us from new us off to a very well off I'm here Obama mind game. And the game so for the piece of the -- combat roles and I hope -- stone I knew that. Bobby how much do you within the organization have to sort of stay on Pablo and keep tabs on his way. That's a challenge for Bob Lewis for our medical staff we. We have to watch all of our guys if some guy's got great some guys can gain it you're gonna have to watch him all year and we do a lot -- the third. Pregame good breath in the post game and making sure these guys there eating right doing things we need to do to stay in the district. It -- to put up numbers and eventually maybe nobody will actually care have been scales. I meanwhile Brian Wilson always a source of discussion even when he's perfectly healthy which Henry was not obviously for much of last season. And let's take a look at a board game you would chronicle. Willie does this from right saving excuse me on Brian Wilson Willie at the end of the year crashed and burned. We went conservative as far as rehab he wasn't gonna throw until new years. And our bullpen was one of our straight over the last three years not knowing if Willie was going to be at full strength at the beginning of the year how could we -- That bullpen is obviously justification for spending some pretty big bucks to re signed Javier Lopez and it. Yeah end look the the point of that the questions we are asking what we're about half Affeldt and Lopez why they gave them much money but. I think the key -- Wilson is that we really don't know how he's gonna respond to pitching in baseball games anymore. He. Took a long break longer than he actually wanted to. Then he started a rehab program in November to strengthen the arm he worked with the physical therapist down in Los Angeles. And -- the heat. There gonna be real careful with him because he's kind of an all out kind of guy in. I don't think we're gonna see in the first couple weeks again ago but gains in spring training wanna make sure that that arm is sound before it but -- competition. And I'm guessing Bobby holding Brian Wilson back is not the easiest thing to do you know he wants to be out there from day one going full throttle. Yeah how much of a challenge is it going to be to manage that elbow heading into opening day. Abreu is is motivated and he yeah I mean he wants to be out there and even spring training games and hit -- like to see anybody else finished two games so. No. You know will educate him in advance and making those that there's there's time that to turn it loose. And will pay sit and we we want to be ready for opening day I think that's the priority and he knows that. -- let's talk about the shortstop position because that is one which. That is not seem to be completely cemented as we head into Scottsdale in spring training and you know there's several candidates for the job internally bringing back. Like fun you know -- -- Bryant stereo then of course Bobby Brandon Crawford got -- an extended look with the big club last year defensively -- passed every test. Offensively still some work to. Does -- give us any idea. We tweeting organization. I really want to see. Granted take that job. We like I was inside defensively we believe there's more there offensively. Pitchers didn't even power to a certain extent and I believe that peaking. Show why he belongs as our shortstop. And your thoughts. Well I've I think that I believe the organization when it says it's gonna give -- first crack the job but we all know that -- she likes veteran players I think that. Referral for a while at least we're gonna see Bryant stereo start games assuming he makes teams start games against tough left handed pitchers. I think the one difference here is that for Brandon is so far ahead now with his defense. If they get enough offense elsewhere in the lineup which they should with -- back -- -- -- Freddy back in the new additions. Maybe they can skate -- shortstop hitting eighth in the order who's hitting eight to twenty to thirty. How how much. Slack is Crawford going to get in terms of you know you either need to be the guy and he played every day. Or we need to plan every day data AAA is obviously you don't want to top prospects sitting on the -- four times a week I really go into the season too early at least the spring training knowing that. And we don't necessarily want him playing against tough lefties you know that's not not a street for him right now something that he can work on but yet if he's able to hold his own against Fridays and no we know that he's got his job. -- cut out for -- as is and you know he'll face some lefties as well but I think that to expect -- every -- not necessarily what we need certainly one of the key position battles. As we get -- spring training 2012.
