Maiocco confirms Manningham-to-49ers
Matt Maiocco phones in from Santa Clara with the absolute latest on the deal with Manningham, as of Saturday night at 9 p.m.
With the signing of Mario Manningham have you been able to confirm this report at all. Yeah I hit it's -- a two year deal and earlier in the day. Brandon Lloyd who visited the 49ers earlier in the week by the three year twelve million dollar contract with the Patriots so I'd I don't know -- -- -- the mini -- deal. But it's probably going to be another bargain price probably at 34 million dollar a year range and this is a free agent period that started with huge dollars being drawn around the league a wide receiver so. The 49ers. Did a low risk contract for Randy Moss who didn't play relaxed here and another low lift. Short term deal two year deal for Mario Manningham and so they have. Put up a little bit more depth at the wide receiver positions certainly than what they finished last year -- And real quick before we get into Peyton Manning Matt what do you think that this does for the 49ers receiving corps. Adding a guy like Manningham who came up -- certainly some big catches in the post season. Yeah in fact get a big -- -- the 49ers still have a fourth quarter play I got to third it up fifteen play. What it does could be just gives them more options. You would they don't know exactly what rainy -- is going to be able to offer the team after a full year of not playing football. A Michael Crabtree had a very good regular season last year and then didn't produce in the playoffs. Many am as a guy who's their third receiver with the Giants -- I didn't Hakeem Nicks. And Victor Cruz so right now what would you all -- loved it. Competition. And you look -- the all spots across the board and finally the 49ers have a little bit the competition at wide receiver I don't think -- done. Build that -- draft somebody as well. And whether they. This guy could go after Mike Wallace for not that remains the BC law the court -- restricted free agent with the Steelers it's gonna take a lot pigs. Tried him at all so first round draft pick. There -- also take a lot to sign Peyton Manning -- real quick what's the latest you're hearing on that front. Well look at the 49ers then. Had talked obviously that Peyton Manning. A league source told me that -- that situation -- -- why did you bring your offense to the next team. Be listening to what he can beat let. How it can't be assimilated into the team. And I've got a pretty good player not take a lot of pressure -- Peyton Manning with the running game are. -- -- -- -- I'm not have to throw the ball forty times -- game I think Manning looks at the 49ers to feed his best opportunity. -- -- with a group all. Certainly better than what the Broncos do with the Titans -- let her eat besides the goal in that direction whether that's the deciding factor remains to be seeing you'll make a decision early in the week. All right my man up front thanks so much from time to check out more from him on CSN Bay Area dot com. Has the numbers for Mario Manningham here's a look at. What he did last season twelve games and was limited. But due to injury missed four games of 39 catches five and 243 yards for a touchdown put the numbers on the post season thirteen catches a 189 yards. And three touchdowns it's certainly the receiving corps for the 49ers are certainly looking a lot more attractive should -- Manning wanted to come to San Francisco.
