Chronicle Conversation -- Joe Lacob, Part 1
Transcript
And chronicle live continues -- our -- -- conversation it was an unfortunate occurrence that happened on a night it was. It was nice to be a beautiful evening. For the warrior fans and for one player in particular Chris Mullin. But the man who really was responsible for the entire evening even coming about. Is the larger lake and any judges are chronicle live watching that -- what goes through your mind as you watch what went on last. Like a lot of emails that I got to 3 in the morning last night. Watching it does not actually the first time. And you know it wasn't comfortable could Punto tripled to watch. It was pretty and comfortable at the moment as well all I can remember. During it was. I wished it stops like that just honor Chris because that's what we -- here. Do and that's a big well that's what the entire evening was -- we're gonna get to that a little bit. As you guys look back at the evening and the people that you trust and running the business what are they saying the -- represented what did that mean. -- -- -- You know I really don't know I obviously. I think there's some frustration with the trade that occurred this week Monfils is one of our most popular players. Been a long time and certainly at least half our fans really liked him the other half from but sure we always have had a lot of discussions about that. You know twenty years of history and not making the playoffs a lot of the it's just hard to say it you know things happen sometimes and not really clear the reason I don't think any of us expected it may be we should have but we didn't really expect that reaction is there something you would try. Do differently if you could rewrite that script and say all right maybe I should go here maybe I shouldn't speak at all or something you would change oh sure in retrospect. After seeing that. Probably wouldn't try to speak after Chris -- But you know you gotta remember that what we're trying to do was to we had been asked to show respect for the past. And the previous administration with the -- have not done that we felt we were doing something very. Good for for the community for the organization for the -- history and you know we are honored to be able to do it to retire Chris marlins' number and hang that Jersey. And end unfortunately. You know return to something else. It did turn into something else but some of those players who you -- reach out to and you wanna bring back into the fold with the organization. They stepped up to the plate for one was Chris Mullen may be the class his move that we have seen in the Bay Area in years and Rick Perry did the same what does that mean to you. We'll have to say I -- always respected those guys but even more so now obviously. I don't know that anyone out there has been a situation like I was last night. I don't know that anyone can beat who he used to -- 320000 people or at least sounded like 20000 people doing you. Those guys stepped up and I tried to calm the situation I thought they were very classy to do that. And Rick -- was pure Rick Barry. It was you know it was it was pretty extinct. Oh exactly whatever your emotion is about Rick Perry he stepped up to the plate and did something he believed I give the guy credit for doing that. You let me ask it this way prior to you took over the club fourteen months ago part of that. You were involved the NBA but you've also been a season ticket for the -- in the past seven where you are many many years they have many many so you've been in the crowd. Through that long stretch of losing. Did you have a feeling blowing his offense. Well. -- -- certainly good how I have okay and you know I have to be honest guy he might have I don't know maybe I would have booed last night. Probably not but I mean I can see how somebody might have with frustration levels in the trade if your big fan of Montoya. I think we contribute to that so look we don't hold it against the fence that they -- I didn't enjoy it certainly was very comfortable. But it is what it is and the fans are still believe the greatest fans in the world and you know I certainly hope that they'll just bear with us and understand we're trying to make a lot of improvements and trying to improve this team and trying to get us to the promised land.
