Smart: 'Numbers don't mean a thing if your not winning.'
Keith Smart talks about the turnovers that caused the Kings to lose in Houston.
Now I have it all you know we we we self destruct. You know we have some success. As a unit as a group and he stayed with -- did you stay with today and you allow players to make the right place for each other. And then you get away from you know we just gotta get a handle. On the -- as a group as a team you don't get on a roll teams are gonna make runs but this when he got to -- your composure and got to keep everything together everybody stayed together. You know but as you you know this team sometimes they get to that moment and now all of a sudden they allowed themselves to. It's what's meant to you to where you -- come together and has -- brought to that point I understand there's gonna happen but in tough games on the road when you have a chance. I sit him over there we're we're a minute and 42. Seconds type team. You make the mistakes and those little moments -- in 42 seconds mistakes bad shots. That's staying true to your coverage and that's when you break down and that's when teams get a run and they made plays. Getting closer shooters or contest the shot making them have to make one extra pass. That's what happens in that -- in his 42 -- It no fear it would be different they got around in front of him and made it difficult for him had to catch me right away. And they got in front and do things like getting got to be able to get the ball fight for the position. And then reposition you don't have a movie begins somewhere else and in the got to play you know guilty is a bit he's had a good game so you got to understand that that's gonna happen and you gotta fight some of the way to get the basketball. But that's part of growth that we won't have to grow as a team and overall. You're playing great they're playing hard all the time now but it just a matter of if we didn't talk it's really a two minute spurt. We that we will be okay because he had to get a basketball deal as we trek to see on the internal we have in -- holding until ball games whether we give up. And offers a rebound season. -- -- We -- -- me real well authority with the basketball national with a basketball. Thrown into areas that we're in that therefore plays he made you know we got to get the ball back out top floor. Move was solid again and yeah we did a great job -- taking care of all of -- to -- You turn the basketball over you they're gonna have a chance for a shot off the rebound potentially. And then down if you allow a team get back in the game because those are waking -- make some shots. And make some plays and that's exactly what Houston did. Career you know. He needs -- Hamilton must be March Madness of the it wasn't good for our side you know because we got to keep our team understand where we're trying to go. And who hasn't breakdown defensively we knew they had great -- tonight but. We broke down some areas defensively allowed them to get some clean looks -- just got to keep growing gotta keep this team understanding that. Numbers don't mean -- thing you can now winning you've got to win. You get your approval from winning basketball games and -- we got to get to. Yeah. Yes he did. It. Yeah I you don't sometimes you know he's he's a late game player and sometimes he makes those shots he drove to the best got one. You were in the bonus at Delaware has alerted state got may have taken a chance and see what officials might make a call at the end. Take a jump shot you know -- this is gravy wrinkles -- but it doesn't then you know he can have a question mark right there but. Still trusts his late game ability to again put on the floor and he can make along. -- Apparently. -- -- If it you miss him being young the things that you're seeing that there that are repeating but yet -- games. He's the same things you know we over penetrate -- areas where we should move the ball you have a chance and opportunity right away. If you don't have that opportunity you've also got to move the ball somewhere else the other cut and find that we standing too much out to them as watching shot clocks going down. Which allow you to be a shooter. You only hold the ball is if he was going to be crowded in the fourth -- we got to move the ball. When you don't have an opportunity again today teammate that you lost your chance you know and now that's got a pattern that we -- right now. And we don't make some open shots as we did movement we have probably three or four. Open shots that could broke the game force that we didn't make. And yeah I think he's -- in charge and he's he's playing well he's played within himself you know he showed that he can make some plays in the play maker. Defensively so. He's moving the right pace for our basketball team and -- like what he's doing like his poise and how he plays on the floor. And as a team that he can do that no team can do so we just got to keep and get him familiar what are we doing all around.
