Seth Smith not having a bad start to this year at all he's got to be love and always hit the ball. And now let's roll along here on chronicle live to head out to coliseum and bring in the -- it Seth Smith. And Dallas so last nights when I was a big win for you guys what a performance by Tommy Malone sat. Yeah outstanding. For a a young guys got hurt he had Desmond his fifth Major League start to come out and and to hold down a really really good young Kansas City Royals team was was very impressive and confess I'm doing it we we kind of struggled a little bit trying to win some games early and and for him to come out and can be the stopper for us and now allow us to win that game was was really good. -- -- talk about your performance early in the season they got isolated in as the designated hitter sure got used to playing out the field as well as an outfielder. How do you balance that being the DH out how different is that compared to when you play you're on the field. It's a lot different there's some there's some aspects that are that are better in some aspects that are a little bit tougher to deal with. Our early in my career do a lot of pinch hitting so right now just starting is as DH I'm kind of approaching that way how little attention of -- and I just happen again. Four or five a game in Canada and go at that always at an individual -- every -- -- go out there and and the weather's good -- -- kind of -- didn't get ready for the next one. How different is it to two in the National League in the American League as you try to get yourself above the speed on maybe different pictures you see your different ballparks you go until. We have to do other big adjustments -- There will be learning new pictures you know nationally -- at face just about everybody knows gonna face in an American League through interleague play -- I've faced a lot of them already but certainly will be guys that. That I haven't faced before so I'll be relying on scouting reports and and teammates and then things like that trying to help. -- -- may have to Sweden and give me a better chance to be successful. But you know at the end of the day you know when -- step in the box it's this a baseball game like any other. By a lot of people around Major League Baseball just fans of the game they want to get a look that you won assess that is. When he swings and he's up at the plate people are stopped and what they're doing their watch him I wanna ask you do you when your teammates. Maybe in BP do nice sneak an extra pick you stand there and watch you want us to see how far can get one of those bombs. Yeah you notice. You know being in the big leagues and be around for a little while we've you know you've seen guys here who can take it take a good B -- the most impressive. They were that. You know -- few balls -- said the stadium. During games that's you know BP for us is. There's no big deal we we've seen it all before the guys that can hit the ball as far as he can during the game is this something special. And -- and guys on the roster can muscle up and try to look goal output for foot -- -- him. As far as VP home runs during the regular radio any game all run. I don't know I think most there's a lot. Guess it -- we have. They have a -- once or twice. Maybe for their lives birdies again they can do it you know any time so it's. It's definitely impressive what he can do and hopefully he can keep it up and make some adjustments that that we all have to make and then -- really good baseball player. I've for the a's are finally starting getting that regular rhythm of the baseball season this has been a weird start of the year you guys and -- shortened spring training any go to Japan and then. You have an opening day and then you're off for a little while. When you consider your real opening day was -- Japan -- now. How do you feel about the way this season has been so chunky to get started. It's it's been tough it's been crazy and really it's been that. I don't I don't know of any any kind of positive spin you can put on us firm. You know coming into this season where I guess five games deep now and it still doesn't really even feel like we've we started the season near there's been a grind to it that. Spring train was mixed go to Japan coming back from Japan the whole next week was kind of kind of lost guys couldn't sleep through -- tough to give back on schedule so it's been tough preparing. But. You guys have -- have put in their work in and also and that's all you can ask and do you know you can never complain about -- -- -- things -- have happened then in the you know it's about the trip to Japan which we enjoyed it still is it's hard to come back from so. Guys greater players -- on all of this been a tough little spring training getting ready for the season. -- said we -- the rain away get back in the lineup tonight couple more hits and a big win tonight thanks for joining us here chronicle live good luck the rest of the year. You gotta thank you.
