This is a day off for the Giants as they prepare for the weekend set against the Oakland Athletics and an interleague play but. He never get a day off when you're the senior VP and general manager of the San Francisco Giants -- saving joins us from Phoenix and Brian what's going on down in Phoenix that had you down there doing your job. Well are a rookie team opened up book in this position as a chance to see them a couple games so we try to spread. But -- as far as the front office and you kind of crucial that we care and this is tough duty done here you know a 10500 templates in some given days so. I had to grind it be younger guys really put a lot of work in this. And make sure you go -- -- F up forty or more and it's my one bit of advice for you don't ask you about different portrait is I think that's the way and that's when until it does -- -- -- I'll let's ask about that first round pick Chris stretch and you guys signed him but what's the prime ball progression you think that he can go along weren't you guys decided to put him in one -- really sort of throw the baseball. But it's going to be very slow effect he's been down here in Arizona trying to get. The rust off of a couple of so you know. Often after a little portable enough after the first season and and what goes on during the draft and get somebody signed once he's in shape which will be after. I would think in the around July 1. Won't get him signed to. Salem and take some baby steps and pick -- -- decision before the first thing recruitment and ducks made these guys and -- what it takes to be a professional -- regiment each day as the starting pitcher what you do to get -- trees start that you don't between. And then make sure absolutely 100% of their LP and try to figure out how much -- is. College season its case and what kind of well. How much -- who was on his arm. Well personally so it's kind of regiment the and then at the end of the year will decide whether he goes to these curves on instruction with four more runs in the. And other guys working out down in Phoenix is Freddy Sanchez and in the Bruce -- she addressed it in the days and really there's no update with him. But from the Giants side are you guys -- is -- in the rearview mirror for now a fetus if he gets healthy that's a good surprise but what are you guys with Freddy Sanchez. Well it's it's still on the waiting stage he's doing some limited baseball activity. Yes and -- this from day to day in the rumba that well Eric's situation. Especially into one of his -- he's been able to -- balls has been able to BP in the cage open it's not full load of baseball activities as far as -- so rearview mirror look though it's a long way back -- the road to love to see into the rearview mirror. I know next week he got the big series coming up with the Dodgers coming to town. They come in with a country series got a new deal five years 85 million dollars is that deal that is a template for what you're looking at when you have to deal with Melky Cabrera in the offseason. I don't I don't think that that -- -- so you know different skills so it's different so pleasant time in terms of each year has caught well you know as far as so he was going to be able to do. Well with the doctors and and bill. You know which is -- -- Melky. And I don't know that anyone to deal. But it dictates what somebody else is gonna do we have not -- gives -- talks and yet I don't know when that time will come. I would strongly impressed with what he has done an easy looks to be good at one point the future we don't feel pressure now. I know Tim Lincecum as a -- game since April he gets a start against the athletics on Friday are you evaluating him start by start. Or -- flat out starting pitcher you know he's gonna be out there every fifth day. But at the difficult thing is so we have to go by. What boats and rags and party's victory -- -- -- our -- of commitment and improvement and he's going net as we speak a bit. On the side in between starts in which he threw twice so I wasn't on the trip. To get his mechanics more honed in from the stretch you can think that's what -- -- they had that -- as a catcher in the bullpen what -- did it is kind and -- because you know bust or start to game used to those who think pregame of them are pitching stuff so. Will be -- in the -- out to me. It was those two throw concessions he did have a real good session prior to the last start for whatever reason want to get into the stretch you gravitated to what was -- Well for them on a portion -- Koppel for. For him -- that the -- Translating into you know proper thing you know and and -- eroded throws strikes so well. I don't know -- start to start that -- set up to the people who are the experts. You know I don't know what we do to take his place Thursday. If things really went upside down we would have to do seriously considers spoke to spoke to. Maybe skipping helmet but it's not like will be replaced him with somebody from mightily this company owners -- have to speeches. Operator he's our starting pitcher in you know we hope we -- most. Brian with Tim Lincecum struggles in Barry Zito starting to struggle those last three outings is starting pitching an area that you'll start to investigate as we get closer to the trade deadline. Not I don't I don't think so I think we'll look pretty will sure that these guys who gonna go with. But I can't tell you what her interest are going to be in the outside world we think we have enough to look. 05 for a playoff spot if not win this division. These guys have been very good in the past. Terry certainly history record speaks for itself and you know it's extremely well up until the last 33 years ago I don't think so we're going to be -- we have a lot of -- I most of but I would this team as of right now I couldn't couldn't really well governments will be from the -- -- Like Bryant thanks for checking and Willis are chronicle live in your time down the son of Phoenix and we'll see you back here next week and the Dodgers are in town. Are there -- -- -- joining -- -- chronicle live Giants and athletics they. Favorite series -- to Friday you can see it on NBC Bay Area. Again 7 o'clock bowl post game coverage on sports net central here on Comcast sports net. -- area.
