Right out CSN Bay Area dot com or better writer boxing writer that is Ryan knocking -- has. The latest themselves should I dean Robert Guerrero was next opponent. Ideas that not only will he wins Saturday's bout you all great girls job. In doing so well. Love -- -- but we turn the back at that stage at say. It's most of building -- -- Friends and have that same -- next guest. Is one of my best friends Albers in we're partners together for eight years and ESPN and our partners again. At showtime and a recent inductees into the international hall of fame that is no small thing. -- congratulations beat thanks for being with us and -- good is it is -- this is great I'm so glad to be here I love that show. And it's a lot of fun so we're doing this fight down in San Jose's HP auditorium in San Jose and Robert Guerrero got I think a lot of Bay Area guys know against self -- I dean. The subject I think that a break is. I really. Well you know others have promised haven't that the Celtic had dean is a Turkish fighter who is certainly not well known here in the United States he's undefeated. His power and his right hand. He is not the most stylish fighter in the planet but he has power and here's the thing about Robert Guerrero in this fight if you well know he's jumping up -- weight divisions going. All all the way up up to welterweight. And so. That's a big issue -- is coming off a fifteen month layoff. Is it which he had shoulder surgery so against a dangerous fighter like I mean it's there are some there's some danger. You know what I do like about Robert Guerrero and I equate this to another guy to talk about just a moment -- but. He's a student of the game he seems to fight the fight he needs to fight yes against the particular opponent hasn't -- -- it. He does you know he's a very as you say he's a very intelligent fighter. These are -- he's fun to watch even though he is a swing sometimes and say somebody's intelligent Smart fighter we think that's code for not a very interesting a fighter but a boxer. Not true with Robert Guerrero makes for fascinating and fun fights later in the Bay Area and I know you didn't quite a lot because you do a lot of underwear expects. Going up in San Francisco's emphasis that was a great -- now. And and for many many years that just kind of disappeared and now all of a sudden. Very much in her shots a lot of good fighters and it. Here's the interesting thing and everyone's list of top four -- top ten pound for pounders. The top four fighters are Floyd Mayweather Manny Pacquiao no neat -- don't care and many have Andre Ward on that list. Under I -- -- to the top 45 best fighters in the world in this area and both those -- I mentioned are spectacular. I can't say enough about it when we talk about it's yeah the game. And and this is a guy with you and I were talking about as low -- this guy -- honestly feel. Could get everything out of the sport and out of the question that he could retire undefeated. He's the complete package as far as its you know it's like they were anti Obama because I get the in the book I suggest Andre Ward of all the fighters I've met in thirty some years of doing this. In and out of the ring he's the most complete package is only a great fighter inside the ring. He's a terrific person outside of course the folks here -- gets them very well from his work on broadcast a little -- the other thing in this is actually kind of annoying about him. He's gonna be the best boxing commentator in the sport in just a few years. And he's willing to work at it that's you know their history if he -- he's actually an intern right here I passed the comeback kid at a Bay Area winners veteran -- -- -- the highest pick an intern in history. And you know what they've been here Lotus -- and I let's talk about the book the book is Al Bernstein. Thirty years thirty undeniable truths about boxing sports and TV and I'm I'm proud to have. Spent a good number of those years alongside of you but. I you know what they do without one of the things you talk about two of your favorite fighters Marvin Hagler and Tommy her and yet. They provide a lot of the fodder for this book in and not so much -- a good way but in a funny kind of. Well you the of course I did that -- -- fight and that was a great great great moment. For me and in mid eighties and eighties were. A great time one of the undeniable truths that chapter titles is sometimes the good old days really are the good old days and more than 1980s. Worry that you know I -- that the worst -- pie commit it was done with Marvin Hagler. I was interviewing -- I think it will Gagne fight and the producer said something in my year and it was right at the level of Marvin Hagler was saying would you I came back to Marvin Anderson would you miss if I left. I thought they want to leave the interview. Apparently the part that preceded that I didn't hear that the folks of homer was if I retired would you miss me I -- Marvin go ahead you've. You go ahead you doubly review long enough and I -- Marvin Hagler retiring on the air. So that I -- -- -- my best journalistic moment you -- Mentioned in the -- to. A -- that I can certainly relate to anybody it is currently do in that. When you're in a boxing arena you are the most vulnerable doesn't. And all of us a bit of experience it to a greater or lesser degree but in your case to a greater and more painfully green yet. It's funny when people as people well know in the boxing fans get stressed they tend to throw things you know a bottle a spouse what was. They'll throw the -- and does so. We were doing Orlando's -- no one Manuel Lopez liked -- in Puerto Rico and some people thought the fight was stopped the learn with Lopez losing. And of course those were his fans. Well I was doing the replay and -- -- seventh items were getting thrown at the ring well the reason he did. We are more vulnerable as we can't move were tied. Like an umbilical cord because we're on the air doing commentary we got headsets on and somebody threw a full water bottle oppressive what about the -- Right here. And it may sound like go full water bottle would hurt but when it comes -- about 300 feet away. It hurt and it the most amazing thing is the producer after a two I had -- -- trying to collect might. My thoughts of -- says wood was asked to stage manager wears out you know -- was almost dead that's where Al. At least it's -- -- -- a good bottle of champagne it would have been worth it I could -- is that exactly. The book is very anecdotal and it is very funny and -- -- -- quick -- it and sell lists. How we get this here blog how funny you should ask you -- Amazon.com. In it's in pay obviously. His book form as well as you books as well so -- go to Amazon.com and you can fight.
