We take you out to Secaucus New Jersey in welcoming them please -- he is an analyst for the MLB network Dan thanks take -- time did you listen up first things first I want master. How tarnished as the Giants image right now it in the national perspective -- when you look at what's going on with the steroid situation. I. Don't think that most people on baseball look at the Giants organization in general being tarnished I know being linked to Barry Bonds -- Matt had a lot to do that. But I but I think it's it's more or less an unfortunate situation. Not only for the Giants but for Melky Cabrera who was -- Really the year of his life MVP of the all star game. You know leading the National League in hitting he was a very important part of their team. I think sometimes when you're so closely tied to what like you guys you. Are in San Francisco. That you look at at you slice it dice that you look at it just from the angle. Of the Giants and it's gone on what the other teams but when it happens in your own backyard it seems to get a lot more attention. And particularly when it's a guy like Melky Cabrera who's been such a great player 2012 for the giant. It's right you heard mark and Tim talk about your take on how much this impacts the giants' lineup and their chances to win that to win the pennant here in the NL west. On that there's no question that it that's a blow to the Giants for you look at the Giants their best players Buster Posey and a Buster Posey can beat the -- he was. A couple of seasons ago it looks like he's just about all the way back from that horrible -- injury. That it looks like the Giants well I thought when you look at it from the outside you have to look at. All thirty teams like we have to you try not to play a favorite team but I know I will say this. Their pitching is still the NB a lot of teams in the National League they've been able to do without Brian Wilson in the ninth inning Bruce -- -- somehow found a way. To mix and match that bullpen I really think this is it time for Hunter Pence to really shine. A lot of people in Philadelphia when the Phillies acquire Hunter -- thought he was going to be able to pick up the slack for Ryan Howard and Chase Utley being out the starter this season. He's gonna kind of get a second chance he's getting a Mulligan again and I think -- Hunter Pence can have a big next six weeks of the season. The Giants have enough are they an offensive machine -- but you have to look at the division also the Diamondbacks have been a big disappointment. The Dodgers improved at the trading deadline bringing in Hanley Ramirez. But I don't look at the Dodgers like I look at the Cincinnati Reds -- the Cardinals. I still think the division is very winnable for the Giants is gonna be tougher without Melky Cabrera. No question but if they can keep everybody healthy and their pitching. And Tim Lincecum keeps pitching like he has now he's still not the guy and he was two or three years ago but he's a lot better he was the first -- season. Matt Cain bomb Garner bowl songs have been good all year long. Their pitching is still good enough that it's gonna keep a man. And I would be surprised if they weren't in this all the way to the end I still like the Giants not only to win the west when they get into the wild card. Their pitching is just too good in that division. Tiger is as far as the offense is concerned though do you think -- saving needs to go out and try to make a deal Scott Hairston Cody Ross. Could possibly come back Jeff Francoeur I've heard his name to -- around as a waiver wire deal something that you Bryant saving it should be aggressive in pursuing. I don't think there's any question right now the Brian -- and is looking up and down that waiver wire I think it's in general manager. Your job is never done you're always looking to improve your team. This isn't a bad team that this is a good team it's not a great team. You go back when they won the World Series there were a lot of people looking at the Giants as a serious threat in the month of September and they go to the World Series and they win the whole thing so. I think they key is you wanna have yourself in a position in the month of September there are no sure things there are big trade you look at the annual angels'. When they acquired Zach Greinke and a lot of people in baseball said well just give the west of the Angels now. You put him would Jered Weaver and Dan Haren all the sudden this is the best pitching staff in the Angels have been kind of one of those teams fluttering so I think your goal. As a general manager is to have your team with that chance a realistic chance in the month of September. And I'm sure that Brian -- in right now is on the phone working the phones. Trying to do whatever he can do to possibly acquire that the problem is that the San Francisco Giants. Aren't the only team looking for help. Yeah that's sure real quick to bring up the NL west the -- seem to reverted since the calendar flipped to August what's going on there in your opinion. Well you know what they're just gonna have to get that magic back but you always have to be a little bit concerned. We have so many comebacks and walk off wins. You wonder how long that magic is gonna last their bullpen hasn't been as good -- Coco was terrific. Made the all star team hasn't been a solid since the all star game this is team that leans on their pitching you -- assessment is. Got really hot a couple of weeks ago Josh Redick has had a terrific season. Losing Brandon Inge from the disabled list is gonna hurt them they're gonna go as far as their pitching takes them they're pitching is still good. He's in great pitching no it's young it's developing. But that may still have a little realistic shot -- a game and a half now. Out of that while last wild card spot so yeah I think if you look at the -- season a lot of people myself included. Our surprise -- even as close as they are right now. I don't look at Billy Beane is being one of these ultra aggressive guys they took a shot tried to acquire him and Ramirez at the trading deadline. There're there are operating with a limited purse strings so it makes it tougher for team like the days. They've been a good story and just don't count the days out. But I think the Giants have a better chance of reaching the post season the a's right now it's all right can we appreciate the time makes it can't stand nightly. On MLB network thanks so much.
