And you're nine games left between the Giants in the Dodgers on the season so can we overstate. The importance of this three game series. Well no it is a very important three game series because it's gonna set the tone for what happens the rest of the way and these two teams separated by only a half the game as they assemble here is Chavez ravine you know the crowd here is going to be into it. And really good pitching matchups all three games I think that. By the end of -- series both teams understand though probably have a pretty good idea of where they stack up against each other obviously the Giants have crossed the Dodgers and a three game series shutting him out. Thirteen and nothing over three games and vice Versa the Dodgers did return the favor in July AT&T park nineteen to three they outscored them all sweeping three games so these teams are pretty evenly -- more so than the games have been thus far. And that's why these three games are going to be so important. Let's chew on that pitching matchup situation and start with tonight's match up. Madison -- Garner going against Clayton Kershaw is mad -- the guy you want with the baseball the first game of this three game series. I think so just because he's a guy who just it doesn't matter what the situation is we've seen him. As a twenty year old pitcher in game four of the World Series and be totally unfazed this is a guy who doesn't put too much pressure on himself he just goes out -- easy delivery. And and tries to execute the game plan a Buster Posey behind the plate working with them the -- they have a good idea how to attack these dodger hitters and vice Versa and he knows he's gonna have to be on his game because you never expect to get a whole lot of runs against Clayton Kershaw. Now let's look at the offense because you've had a four game snapshot of what the offense could look like without Melky Cabrera is that enough above for us to figure out just what the Giants are going to be able to produce for the rest of 2012. Well one thing they're really gonna have to do is find some identity against left handed pitching they just saw two of them in San Diego had mixed success. Did well I guess Eric -- not so well against Clayton Richard. And now we're gonna face two more lefties in this series Kershaw tonight. And end -- of 10 in the series finale on Wednesday so without Melky Cabrera is really bash lefties all year they've got to find a solution Justin Christian. Really hasn't been yet in left field forming a platoon and Gregor Blanco there gonna have to find out of may be getting Xavier Nady up from the minor leagues might make sense -- there's somebody else out there on the waiver wire that might make sense but certainly they got to have a little bit more of an identity against left handed pitching. And have a better idea where they stand after the series is over. -- and you just who we think we can put Melky Cabrera the rear view mirror all of a sudden there's this new -- around about a website he or someone attached to him was trying to put together. How do you get to the bottom -- what's going on -- and it's clear build he's never gonna play for this team again but is he gonna play baseball next year for good six. Yeah it's up to but. Selig is very broad power so he wants to extend a fifty game suspension slapped down another penalty of some kind is certainly within his rights to do that. For the Giants they really say well it's not really our issue anymore. Melky Cabrera is suspended for the remainder of the regular season -- W would come back for the playoffs or we would see him again and a Giants uniform so it almost doesn't matter what kind of additional penalties they would Levy against him. Where this story really might get interesting is now that the FBI is involved with Jeff Nowitzki and they're finding his suppliers. For this testosterone and all the sudden you find a supplier may be find some more players who have been. Supplied these drugs and and all the sudden the the can of -- opens up again so you know -- very difficult for baseball to get past. This drug era and as we see we still have cans of worms opened up here and there. This is gonna be a lingering story for a while but for now it's all Giants and Dodgers and your bag and these are Giants insider followed CSN Bay Area dot com. Andrew thanks to get started here chronicle live. Thank you Jim.
