Transcript
Now welcome to CSN Bay Area dot com or going four wide with Dennis Brown Joseph Nedney -- male -- discussing everything 49ers and Matt I'll I'll start with you because this is one of the questions I've asked many times but is it possible that that great defense could be even better this year. Yeah I believe in her lap and believe so because a lot of these guys. Our young guys. Whose careers are going this -- I think about Ray McDonald -- first year starter last year is phenomenal I. He's not going to be got a guy like natural brown whose first year starter at cornerback he is not going downhill you have a guy like cut -- shot goals and -- -- a franchise. Tag he wants a long term contract. He's gonna bring it did you have. This I can believe this -- -- was asked whose most improved player and a defense isn't horrible it can you imagine Navarro Bowman being improved over what he was last year it was helpful to -- is all -- it but he's he learned he knows the system he knows the coverage -- he knows. A lot more about the punches and that defense so it -- -- Smith he's nails you know what you can get from him it's possible. The stats I don't know the stats to back up but it's it's very possible if not likely that that defense -- better. Denis who played a lot of teams who were -- defensive -- right. I know sometimes the defense of guys come up with the guys don't like each other they don't talk to each -- they don't eat. With -- daughter and in the locker room there's the Mendoza line very. Scoop it seems the defense and -- get along very well take pride in each other every feed off each other. Right as you know it being in the locker room when -- -- -- -- and it looks look different to me because when I was there like you said it was it was defensive line and it was off until one defensive line had to dinners they went to every year. -- the line at the dinners every year so we don't we are always compete and so even on the field we got past first every single day we're full pads we had eleven on eleven we had nine on seven so it was always we are always compete and but but look at him now and and there in every once together and I think that's a that's a great thing that coach Harbaugh has brought into it just bring in. Bring -- that those two groups together because you know those are the -- figure it out on your squad the offense line and defense once so it's great to see who eats more defensive linemen -- offensive line defense of one really the primary alignment normally have -- Yet but we were leader so you know he can our our metabolism but we'll -- fast sides so we're we stately way. What I. You know one aspect of the 49ers show that that maybe doesn't get enough credit is their special teams and how good they were Akers was one of the best Lee was one of the past. Are those guys improving their their prime -- -- on the backside what what's going on. Now you know what as far as the operation with the specialist Bryan Jennings and -- David Akers. We don't worry about that those guys got down they get the job done it was proven last or 44 field goals. He was such -- a large part of that that offense. And will continue to do that. It's special teams whether Brad -- he's gonna do it oversee and all I can they improve from last year. It's going to be a big part of always is a big part he plays -- special teams during change of possession. It's going to be huge in the singles court guys are going to come because it always changes a little bit here and there. But our boss gonna definitely emphasize three equal facets of this game. And I love the fact that it doesn't special teams and who better to run to see who's got a better and that's quite -- -- Bulger. I mean David Akers ended the exhibition game Saturday at fifteen and a 65 yards and are kept saying was just like last year -- know -- doesn't matter who put him on the field is -- -- -- much money he -- money up for sure quick one word answers are they better. Then thirteen and three in the regular season this year. I don't know not better no doubt about it not better this he's not that I'm not one word answer -- that -- close and fell thirteen and threw it. Better or worse. That are better than their team. I associate myself and a half hours and yeah region -- yeah. Sixteen and well have. Great game that I thought was a big challenge Lester went -- Aramis can and its customer service they want so how do you discount a team like that to win every time I stepped up on a big -- last year. They answer I mean and they're a better team how do you discount. Matt -- we're -- -- -- -- to get it could be better what the record could be working out I'd be there -- surprise I'd be shocked if there -- thirteen in threes or better because I think the schedule is just so difficult. And I mean I think we have more room for error more margin for error than they did a year off I think they're better team. But I think they'll be set up for the playoffs batter. But I don't see then I see that winning maybe maybe eleven games gentlemen thank you very much going for art talking forty -- --
