We are here in Napa with first year coach Dennis Allen. And -- -- -- I was there that day in Mobile, Alabama when you get ready to go in for your interview they had camera phone I didn't ever fought back there and we got a little something there but. But it's not when Reggie right before that he had told me that. Basically I had to do is go in and an ace the interview and the job was yours and going into -- -- mean obviously you have to be single minded and you have to know that's what you're going -- to do. But how did you keep those nerves from from getting in the way in the -- -- it. You know I think really what it was was. Just -- an analyst myself. And figured -- -- if he's gonna hire me away and hire me not somebody else so. I really wasn't that nervous when you go for a job interview with the head coach and -- -- for the first time. Did you have kind of a checklist in your mind that you needed to get these points across that yeah -- -- yeah I mean I wanted to get my. Coaching philosophy crossed doing. My vision for what I thought this team would be. And kind of the steps I would take to. To get that done. As well last. You guys that I wanted to try to hire you wanted to try to bring in here and be a part of -- that and so. We talked a lot about. You know philosophy. And no just there's two ways that I felt that. The football team on and you run and talk about -- what things that are important to us. And then obviously we're through and not -- in the guys I want to bring in the higher. You guys are both coming in new GM first general manager other than Al Davis is the Kennedy administration. You come in in his the first defensive minded head coach John -- in 1969. How exciting is that how nerve wracking is that having the kind of like look down a year walking on the tight rope at the same time or is that kind of the highest. I think is really exciting. It's extremely exciting -- I think the fact that we're able to come in. To the -- Nation. At this time. You know with the unfortunate passing of Al Davis you know with the organizations that run a certain way for a long time. And our ability to come in Mark Davis has been great to redeem myself and really kind of give us the ability to come in and run the football operations and run the team the way that we feel like the best way to do it. And and he's given us the freedom to do that so. That's exciting we won't be Al Davis Reggie will be Al Davis I will be Al Davis. Won't be John Madden. I'm gonna come in and do things. The way that I think it's best for this team to have to be successful. Regular run the football operation. Isn't. The way he thinks he needs to be run for to be successful. In between he and myself. Well we're gonna work together on a lot of fronts. To make sure we're making the best decisions that we -- and numb. What the process play out and the results speak for themselves through what you talked about just. This is a -- to watch as -- head coach in the making did you see yourself being coached and this early in your career head coach I'd you know I didn't really pay much attention to it I'll learn a long time ago. That. You wanna move up in this profession just do the job but the job here at right now and don't worry about what the future holds I've been very -- them work. Four and -- a lot of great coaches. And taken a little bit from everybody that I've worked with and always kind of have -- back in my mind if I ever got the opportunity and you don't want to do it. Where is your coaching tree who who were you kind of fall in line with the with the who's out there and I went influences do you really you know I ADT's. There's a bunch of still. I think my time. Under Sean Payton in New Orleans. I learned a lot there and I think that's where I really kind of grew up. As a coach. And I've been very. My first two years in the National Football League had a chance to work for. Again and I think on the hall of Famer and that's Dan Reeves. And he was a man's man he did at the right way. He he he coached. With integrity. And in so. I mean I've I've been fortunate to two. To work a lot of great coaches. What is your ultimate goal for this first season. To win. That's legal. But at the end and they were warned that process. Would come to work every day and we're gonna get better. And that was.
