Dave Feldman Matt welcome Matt I talked to Brandon Jacobs on Thursday his spirits seem good. I know you would want to ask him it must be killing you watching him he admitted that but he said all I have -- my attitude now. But he said the rehab to get better you feel stronger the left knee is okay but he still had no timetable on when he could come back -- at any guess you would even go there with a -- Yet he hasn't practiced since he sustained any injury against the Texans in the forty had a second pre season game so I think he's still a ways away I -- would not expect to see them and be shocked to see him Sunday against Minnesota Vikings but good to be adjusting when he comes back. You -- are beginning give him. -- -- let him practice for a week before he gets on the field everybody assumed that he was going to be the short yardage guy -- spell Frank Gore on occasion. But -- -- have a pretty good stable of running backs frank -- not a bad. Short yardage guy to begin live but that's where Jake gets I think that's where his role is most likely that 49ers yet. He also said by the way that even though it's hard to sit and watch he loves the way the 49ers are playing which is what he called. Punch you in the face and Jim Harbaugh style football now when he does come back. It may be pushed his age pitching kids and the Michael James. Further down not so much Jenkins from the Michael Janzen and Jenkins is also having trouble getting on the field these are two top picks. Yeah I mean I think we can't take again who's also been out he returned to limited practice this week so we'll we'll see if he plays on on Sunday but I think. Jacobs and dinner kind of in the same boat. And you look at the the first things like you mentioned AJ Jenkins when Michael James. There they're sort of together two in a lot of ways I've taken suited up for the first game of the season. I guess that active but did not even step on the field James has been inactive for both games. I know both of those guys are rookies who came into eighteen. That had some veteran guys some proven guys and frankly some really good players already ahead of them. On that on the pecking order of the where where the 49ers. CNN those positions so. James. Is not as good as Kendall Hunter and get a hot guy in my mind as one of the top running back back ups in the league. -- so. Neither James nor Jake and -- Jenkins is not as good as Michael Crabtree yeah -- -- or or Mario Manningham or Randy Moss or. No maybe even Kyle Williams -- -- the thing I always has been the forty hour slot receiver. So I don't know if we will know anything about the guys you know. AJ Jenkins in the Michael James for all we know they could have been. Bad draft picks -- and -- in the corners or they could have been brilliant draft picks. Depending on how they perform later in their careers but to call either of these guys up by us or great at this point is. Clearly. Putting the course ahead of the. Absolutely because we haven't seen him -- and part ahead of our core of the Carter had a threaten. Reversed that yes okay so well when you look at now that the 49ers beat two. Really good quarterbacks in Aaron Rodgers and Matt Stafford and now they're playing Adrian Peterson who's in the lead running back who's recovering from knee surgery but. Recovered pretty quickly. Not everyone in the household name goes about Christian Ponder is this guy any good. -- black tea was he the first two games of the season he's played very well as second year player who did it have that offseason as a rookie I think that. -- for rookies last year especially rookie quarterbacks guys who are able functioning like. Cam Newton nice I think that was amazing because they didn't have that that whole buildup of the with the coaches and having. The offseason programs. Christian Ponder early in this season has played very well so he's not the kind of guy who's gonna -- gonna light up as. Forty fives times and haven't swing the ball around like the -- saw from Aaron Rodgers and Matthew Stafford. Forty hours will be in their base defense a lot on Sunday which means we're gonna finally see number ninety I think so -- go out there on the field. I'm playing run defense and support as nose tackle so. And the Vikings will try to run the ball it's not just agent Peterson also Toby Gerhart at the -- -- coaching staff knows very well. That's going to be what they're gonna do but don't sleep on Christian Ponder reason he's a pretty good player. Also be facing Darryl coach Mike Singletary -- Joseph Staley said you know what. He's another coach I treat him like another coach not surprising for this business like team. Yeah I mean in. You know there's so many coaches now there's there's so much turnover of coaches -- It was somewhere else especially the 49ers a best of it pretty stable now but. I mean not right so many stories about your former 49ers offensive coordinator at another place their players are facing or. Former defense -- coordinator. Former head coach all those kinds of stuff. That that goes into it but yeah I think. They already did some some pleasantries that Candlestick Park the Vikings in -- for the course for six this game I would miss a couple players -- Parys Haralson I saw Larry Brown went over so I -- that singletary game. Seattle think anybody's mind will be on Mike Singletary. And and his team here with the 49ers on Sunday with a prayers go to Minnesota to face Vikings on. Matt thanks I know you prefer women -- but you do OK with me you know -- felt a year you're -- -- expect.
