John Henry Smith Raiders insider Paul Gutierrez here at the Raiders camp and elevate on this Monday following. Let's just say at the debacle. In Denver debacle good lord Buckley never yeah like we use your liberation -- John and it's probably not only nice way of saying -- -- but it it fits it's appropriate. Clement -- a veteran in this business well have a liberation is my middle name well. Well we try to make sense of what we saw and all the before -- do that hey I mean you Raiders are gone out of my week this week and there one in three they just got manhandled. In Denver. Great time for the bye week or bad time. I think it's a good time actually because this is an -- again you're looking at a team that yeah -- does have a lot of name players a lot of veterans. Front line type players. But they've restructured this entire organization and as some may see it as an insult her a slights of of the Raiders bit it really is kind of like a friend an expansion franchise right now. Because they've changed everything about this organization. Down to the computer programs in the building to the defensive philosophy to the offensive system everything is new really in the in the trying to pick it up on the fly. So after four tough games where there one in three. It and beat up physically and mentally if it probably comes at a good time teams really like to have that by close to the middle of the season. But I think for a team like the surprise comes at a good time oh this and in four games now what have you seen from this team that gives you hope that -- well yet in the election season right we've -- taken about hope. Hope and change its act nice you know what would I don't hope is the right word -- -- as a person that covers the team. But they can give the fans hoping can give glimpses. The way they came back against the Steelers down by ten points in the fourth quarter it show that they that they were really ready to give up. A hustle play in Denver yesterday by LaMarr Houston the left defensive end goes all the way across field recover a fumble. Quick to count at the four yard line you mean that they gives you a little bit of -- of a feeling that this team's not really gonna give up yet. You know I think Taiwan Jones doing a lot of special things on special teams that I think it finally found themselves a -- Iguodala makes a good tackles. Yeah a lot of people on -- asking me also well maybe put him at cornerback next so fast anyway to make tackles. But in terms of of just that. Hope I guess it's just you know that this is the young team at heart that just is gonna continue to try to play in and play hard. Okay there's open and there's hope less all right and if there -- some things. That looks hopeless so far there's. For the third time in four games Darren McFadden rushes for less than 35 guys they can't seem to get him on track and then the pass rush no hits. On and Peyton Manning. Yesterday -- -- what do we what do we feel more hope less about I think it just kind of goes back to you know I'm a trend -- the question yet because we're at the quarter pole. But I I think what's more frustrating is to see the lack of a pass rush because that was supposed to be a strength. When you've got veterans that Tommy Kelly and Richard Seymour up front and they're affecting no change threw back to the hope and change things. No chance whatsoever on the court brought us not not yet not yet but I am older though quarterback so quarterback to be two quarterback president. You realize this and know exactly let yeah it's just one of those things we thought that that defensive line was going to be a -- it was gonna. Affect change on on the quarterback but for the new look that play Peyton Manning he didn't get sacked a lot. Ben Roethlisberger in the it -- that a lot Philip Rivers in the opener he gets the ball out quick. So it did this kind of a formula there. Darren McFadden though he was a strength he was playing like an MVP candidate less before he got hurt and now he's not he's getting really know production on him whatsoever so. It just kind of depends upon which are you an offensive minded guy -- defense of my dad because whichever you are or gal. That's what -- -- frustrated with at this point. Andre Carter. Pass rush in a box they just signed him they didn't activate him last game was that a mistake not to activate him and how anxious do you think they are to get him in the lineup for the Atlanta Falcons after the bye week. -- -- it's always when it's money so yet there's no doubt that he -- at least helped out on the pass -- considering that officially did not have a single hit. On Peyton Manning. Physically maybe it was the right thing to do because he had minute training camp they signed -- literally off the street we know what his credentials are hits and sexson fourteen games last year. So he's gonna at least bring that he -- a lot of magic tricks of the trade. How to get to a quarterback so that should help but but things don't get any easier for the Raiders even after the bye they've lost their last nine games after a -- Going back to 2003 it doesn't get any easier for them. Going forward going to Atlanta against the high octane offense on artificial turf. And the team that at that point it's probably going to be five and -- Well last thing I mean -- yes the Atlanta Falcons are there awaiting the Raiders when they come back in the -- but then. After them -- you got. Three games against teams that right now or one in 32 of those games are at home can Raiders fans at least look toward that and say yeah there's so. I think so and -- to Jacksonville. You know that's part of the the soft underbelly of the scheduled. We go to Kansas City which is a rival game and you can just throw out all the records and throw that all out the window anyway. So again that there's hope so to speak but they've got a lot of fix it and I was the first thing Dennis ounce of that press conference on. On Monday was. We a lot of things we got to work on got a lot of things addressed a lot of things fixed and -- rather I was adjusting is the office he keeps bringing up personnel. Which to me you know on my spider senses go up. That means they they they do make him a few more moves on this roster what do I feel like you were talking about me when you were talking about soft underbelly. Door noted Udoka don't I don't answer that don't answer that for Paul Gutierrez I'm John Henry Smith for a CSN Bay Area dot com from Raiders have Alameda.
