Hello athletics and not -- all it means you on CSN California dot com with your eight insider Casey Pratt we're hearing in deep right at Comerica Park. Learn aside that competition for the eighth right now behind as the green and -- working out first day of work out here first and only day. And we just got the announcement that the pitching matchup will beat Justin Verlander going up against Jared Parker how do you see this matchup plane down out on the field. You know -- Jarrett parkers say it's kinda like they've been playing that David all here in here's to life again he got Miguel Cabrera. Den Justin Verlander the reigning MVP and Cy Young some good they go again underdogs even though that the better record which actually god doesn't Verlander -- starts up. It's gonna be earlier series and pretty much exciting at this point. Yeah it's really awkward to try and Pena who is the underdog when these these teams go against other had hadn't -- think he's right at the end talk about the better record. There you had the a's and I think went very very to a doesn't really care what was so funny is he said I haven't really need is players like -- that underdog. And it has played into the fact that they've been able to go out there and play. So loose. Perhaps I'll meet you get an edge of the team that has a little bit more post season experience are what do you think about that and just -- probably critical first five minutes of the game. That's the tricky situation and you know it is also probably aren't even thinking about it but the last time they made it in the playoffs in 2006 the Detroit Tigers for the team that -- and out so. As far as the fans are concerned maybe they can get a little bit of vengeance but you know the -- wanna play the underdog role and they wanna stay in this situation it's worked for them all year. And even in this series like we are saying they are kind of overlooked at this point because that two rookies on the mound first two games. And the Tigers obviously have a lot more experience and guys like Miguel Cabrera of the Triple Crown winner. As -- done since 1967. Prince Fielder -- backing up Miguel Cabrera so it never really tough team being like everybody we've got to today and you've been talking and I had to. They all say that they're not to change your approach there's gonna stay loose they're gonna have fun and they're gonna go out there and do what they've always been doing. And I think that's perfect approach ready at the Bob Melvin Ingram -- wind and I think that my favorite side of the day today with him talking to Johnny Helmsley and really I think you guys ask me about every game eat a big game we dealt with big game in Tokyo to start the season -- Big games we need to keep it down they seed them dealt with big games they are facing the Red Sox or whoever it was this right at the time whenever the situation is. And begin game coming up to those big games in Texas -- last week and Johnny bed at somewhere in spring after. LS champion. Yeah yeah -- and I didn't you know at that confident that you need but again not getting probably too. I -- themselves they just went up there yeah and his gums as saying TO it's. Their battle tested at this point at this point you can't question the character on the case anymore. You know they've lost big players they've gone through crazy adversity and yet here they aren't the champions of the American League wasn't at this point really. They've done everything there's no point questioning what they can and can't do anymore is here they are so now. He's got just enough board -- they can ride this momentum because they've basically been playing playoff games for like the last month. Again and I talked about managers about that -- and you know both -- of the plate and in the old days also. They lead their teams are ready but I kind of pretty deep that it's gonna make an even more competitive edge heading into the series. It kind of moderate climate so this is the person out of the last because I think Brad -- -- it started maybe that homestead but especially on Monday yeah -- days as the Tigers them. -- -- -- -- Being back here it's weird like that month and a brand engine -- -- like gets them pregame like. Was like a week and a half ago right here in Detroit. Here we are again in just a crazy situation and on the road trip I mean seventeen is playing on the road the three games at home pretty much felt like part of the road trip. And all those games are huge you know Texas New York. Detroit three teams in the best records at home in the league is had a survived that series -- all of them really and it's been playing high competitive. There -- important games for quite awhile now it's new it's crazy to it's like. You think about the nine game losing streak they went on. So ideally wanted to get as is that he never even -- -- -- down the wire so I mean this team could be very good this year and next here and for a lot of years to come. As Jim Leland pointing out is pearl of wisdom for the day is that that that all else did is it's great that -- -- night games total. We're talking New York winning might see Detroit -- he makes you Oakland taking it by wind usually hit it in the evening you see one team taking her tiger -- backed by its the competitive if not wait that. And one quick note at -- act as. Doing athletics here indeed strike and about them and that you know that's just great because this team can really embraced them and I get. Scott Allen and -- -- -- -- against -- -- immediately. This is what matters we're here with you. And ever on -- making the big picture what's going on and now the is -- even more to blame it. Bought plate or rather and now I can reach eighth -- work on nine and follow us on sports net central with the October what -- -- eight in the play out.
