Casey & Brodie -- Sticking with superstition
Casey Pratt joins Brodie Brazil to keep up with superstitions and prepare you for the ALDS Game 5.
Brazil and Casey -- here at the coliseum for game five this American League divisional series that let's be honest -- the only reason we're doing. This web feature is because they've done it every game here at the coliseum. Which the aides have coincidentally won my superstition going on yeah we were actually even scheduled to do this -- that we kinda. Got together and decided we had to do it so. It -- success and how much superstition do you think his plane into even players coming into today. Obviously everybody has their deemed a routine that hasn't changed player to player a whole lot but. -- to think about how the last three games and days of what they're probably trying to repeat. Small routines even down to the most scientific things. Well I ain't Honey Nut Cheerios and a banana and drink Starbucks coffee out of the baseball -- two days that are out that thing that actually guys funny about this is. Bob Melvin the most superstitious guy you're gonna find he does -- -- actually just that the -- Riders after his press conferences. He walked this in India clubhouse today is the exact same spot made -- stand in the exact same spots that we have to do it the exact same spot because. He's superstitious guy so it is being felt inside the a's clubhouse. Pilots get to the pitching matchup for tonight Justin Verlander for Detroit your Parker for the east. Remember game one it was this exact same match up -- east hitters afterwards said that Parker got the benefit I'm sorry for a -- she's got the benefit. A large strike zone a lot of calls going his way. Can't match play and to be a factor tonight once again it's a different home plate umpire Wally bell yet it is Wally bell and it is a different strike zone in its gonna be interesting to see how the the crazy crowd here might factor is any time he calls a bad call they're going to be boo like crazy but he is going to have a bit of -- higher strike zone. On as far as Verlander is concerned the a's have done a great job was working his pitch count up. That's been a big thing isn't done more than seven innings and any of his three wins against the a's this season itself. If they can keep doing that keep working his pitch count up you know they really haven't knocked him louder or done anything to score really many runs aside from both the presence. A leadoff home run in game one but they have out of on the ropes a little bit in that set itself. Maybe they can find a way to finally get to Melvin Jackie talked about that a little yesterday they feel like they're making some progress against Verlander making this start. The fourth time and space is will be the one they get him. Lastly this -- Home field advantage which obviously -- of enjoyed the last three games of this series. You gotta look at the mental edge and the Detroit team which right now has to be as tight as it comes because they had. Everything going their favor after two games they have essentially lost everything they worked for right now we even heard. Last night after the game there was some tension in the clubhouse -- not to be O Dotel and Miguel Cabrera -- how do you think they are approaching this game in a situation where yet they may be tensing up a bit. You know this reminds me so much that Texas Rangers series in the area. The Rangers is needed to win one game that's it one game in -- the American League west champions they lost the first game tightened up lost the second game got really tight. Third game they took a big lead BA's scored eleven unanswered runs. And knocked him out of the American League west title both self I think the Detroit Tigers are really experiencing the same thing you hear about the kind of bickering in the clubhouse. Miguel Cabrera blew off the media after the game that is responsibilities of -- on that team to talk to the media and take the pressure off. Some of the younger guys that are gonna get the tougher questions self. That is decided this is really affecting the Detroit Tigers and even with Verlander on the mound. They're going to be under a lot of pressure to win this game after going up to know in the days they never changed their philosophy they've done at the same way every time that's gonna go out have fun. Relax and play their game and its workforce so far. As you mentioned something cool to think about here the last five games have been played at the coliseum if he's losing one of those five. Three against the Rangers and wants to against the Tigers the opponent would be able to celebrate inside the visitors clubhouse and guess what. These have not allowed that to happen. So far and tonight somebody will be celebrating here. It is winner take all in game five of this AL DS we'll see on pregame coverage 530 over on Comcast sports net California for Casey John Brody. Good luck to the open dates.
