Well accelerator and -- long -- coming at you on CSN California dot com with your Raiders insider politics here -- here. On the field at the Georgia Dome which is a very popular place right after the game and it reaching the Falcons Raiders you we thought bunt fake you know our. But it's not about that heartbreaking loss in the final second. For the Raiders. I mean let's first talk about the positive I think the Raiders really out of that bye week in with a struggling first start this season ahead cannot state. It doesn't show up in the win column but did they do that today. I think so when he talked a lot of guys in that locker room Carson Palmer particularly I said there's no such thing as moral victories it's all about. W.s and l.s and they got the loss today and he put it on his own shoulders that execs at the end. But I think they did win something else that they won a lot of respect from around the rest of the league especially doing it in this environment against an undefeated team. And I think they gained a lot of confidence amongst themselves as well because they were in this game then and can make the case that they should -- won they dominated. Off a lot of the time of possession and things like that so they finally got some interceptions that got another sack so. They can walk out here with the loss they can also walk out here with their heads at least hanging around the neck pain and all the way down but they did -- some things a lot of critics and answer themselves. And public and they're gonna listens but Carson Palmer had to say it'll be online and -- be filing about it but he really did. Say there was no worried about it this loss was my mistake we even tried -- back what you brought it seemed that you that the that the team in that position to even be in a situation like that. But he would not hear it what's that say about the competitor Carson. Well it shows you the accountability and for people that have been following the Raiders for at least five or six years that something you never saw from. And the sales nasty words right now JaMarcus Russell he would never take accountability for things I guess Jason Campbell showed some of that. But Carson Palmer to this entire defeat on his own shoulders today and and whether that was true or not. It's true you can't give up a pick six that situation when you're already in potential game winning field goal position. But again that's the kind of guy. It's gonna make that play is -- something Samuel he's he's a Pro Bowl caliber all pro caliber cornerback and he just jumped it and made it perfectly. Right it's not all of them about offense let's talk about -- KP did that game. The Raiders defense that had not had an interception on the season but today -- come -- and -- fashioned three and the first half. What you see today that was different for the Raiders defense in the purse you mean. -- you saw a more active energized unit out there and strangely enough when they went into a lot of dime and nickel packages. -- middle linebacker was on the field and you know a lot of lot of fans criticize a lot of acclaim for his. Perceived or real lack of effort out there and and when he was not on the field they only had two linebackers out there both those guys in nothing but energy and Philip Wheeler. And the rookie from San Diego State miles Burris so. These guys are becoming ball Hawks have been flying around you were getting pressure than you were getting picks in Indy getting Dixon you're getting pressure and and it's true those things really do work hand in hand of each other. So you saw the defense take a multitude of steps forward. They couldn't stop them from from getting enough -- to -- that last second literally 12 on the clock field goal for the win. But again same thing they showed a lot of progress today. And it was interesting that they did it without a lot of McClain on the field for the most where he did make one great plate. And a goal line stand he did -- do -- in and stop the the ball carrier their goal from the one so that was a good place maybe they're they're gonna find a role for him now. Where it helps not only him but the defense as well. Yeah beat the Raiders I'm really did step up on their defense for those third downs against happens really forced him to settle for some -- there that's out to me to is Michael. It seems like it's coming around and at cornerback is. -- -- Yeah he he he said this week to you know his first start when when he gets Ben Roethlisberger than he gets a dose of Peyton Manning now gets Matty ice Matt -- so he said he didn't really ease me into this thing you're going to cornerback. And they he got a picture and in a lot of that was caused by the pressure that that Matt Ryan was was under constant duress. But that's the way the games played on defense you get the pressure than that the quarterbacks in the DBs. Have time to react to the ball come out -- in the quick quick passing so he's going into the role it's its strange usually see quarterbacks going from corner. To safety not the other way around so. All on you take a look at the stats and a -- -- like that great today but. They didn't win but they did show some progress.
