Smart: 'It's the mental mistakes that hurt us'
Head coach Keith Smart on the Kings' 92-80 loss to the Timberwolves in their second game of the season.
I don't see any -- that. Double prevailed and we did I can't say about that list. Who couldn't move from there. You read your run there here's what happened yesterday at his feet and well -- thought we we got up by five you know the momentum was on our side after we took some quick shots because now they're chasing us we got to take good shots and that's a part of growing up -- this team. Is not to take quick shots at that particular point. The focus on what you needed that moment and now and -- -- that it happened but you know you hold a team on the -- is shooting you have a shot. It just a little mental mistakes that we made that -- the defense so we do some nice things to keep the team under a certain percentage. Within the middle mistakes that we make it at the critical moments workers. But. Well yes if there anything you do or. That and maybe coax them. Well you go to video do you back off. In and take -- what you're trying to accomplish some will probably not. Where they should be but. I think we got to stay at the point where we still be aggressive right there. And we got it adjusted efficiencies that night it was going to be a little free we got to just and you know I felt something that happened out there probably. Can go either way we got to learn -- -- -- -- And -- -- you know that there's a judgment call that we've got just tell him to bishop. Just being shot -- channels. Because that's that thing right now albeit questionable call him and he's trying to do what it is -- details -- the big deal would be in position to charge. But I just got it maybe just get back just going to be shot blocker more so they tried to talk to defeat. Missing two starters brewing here. Mean you hear them earn him -- about it -- -- will view the more on the Miller is. So they MBA players you know with the fact heels got the big play Roy you guys you know heard the chemical played a great -- -- -- so. He's a -- player Rios in the NBA game does the Russian team and what exactly so those two guys that got -- you know. And -- that order him there. Yeah. Yeah I thought that Jimmy did a good job -- -- good -- and played before but he came in the game here mentally ready staples into the basketball game and that would make the right plays towards. -- -- the team a little big guys -- some some offensive things. And overall I thought that that group from the right loophole will play against to me I've got to nine at halftime. They came out of the third quarter and made a nice -- And though you take the lead but we that they get away from was. Leak out transition wise we get back defensively. A little middle middle middle finger just pulled together mental mistakes that we six -- up to you long rebound with a detailed. But thinks overall we stay consistent when I would play from the defense side sort all the other stuff. And I think we'll still catch up would have been trying to accomplish here. Or friends or in -- open and I keep them in. Their art than the other I don't because it is the biggest thing that you got to keep getting you I was -- -- give you his offense there's probably. You know you can't make up ground from the -- standpoint. Offensively will be there will be -- give -- running game going we start making shots and finishing plays around the basket. That a -- you know so I wanna stay consistent and everything else will we do it. It believe me I know I coached team negative writing -- born again and I have no doubt that that happen. Over time for us but right now we had that -- stage right now that we got to get through. If you -- -- and sort of go running game going and making open shots we go to every night want to go back to the film how many open shots we have. And and how many paint play that we don't finish that she's a whole lot and run. When the game road.
