Coming out -- mini bike here at Candlestick Park big Monday night win for the 49ers 32 to seven. Over the Chicago Bears a match how they anyone expected this the Bears come in with a never went deep and -- -- leave with the fewest points allowed per game. Calling hampered making his Spurs and it all started we also all the results. First four drives of forty niners score on each of those -- first time TVs and that since 2002 and the run game really established behind on Patrick -- thinking he was really calm and collected the -- Yeah and there's no question out of his story this game is Colin -- -- -- if it. And if it weren't for college governing in we'd -- timeout all the Smith put the cap for next. Put himself in a position. To. Be a quarterback on this team for perhaps a long time -- variant Justine here Jim Harbaugh talked after the game about. He tends to stick with the hot hand. And after Alex Smith went. Eighteen and nineteen against the Cardinals and seven of eight against the Rams you would think OK well that's a pretty hot hand. But cap for next showed another dimension being able to get the ball down the field on plays that I don't think Alex Smith typically throws on the field. Without calling an -- up under center a lot I think that's what surprised me the most it was in the shot and -- mentally once that first drive. And we were able to talk to some people before the game about really how much they expect to calling -- need to be able to start a Monday night and it really wasn't until the final few days. I've practiced maybe Saturday they had an idea Alex may not be cleared to they had to tweak things a little bit for college. We really couldn't tell I mean he got most of the reps on Saturday at practice but it really was Alex taking majority of those reps earlier in the week so. This is somewhat good -- for them that they have depth at that quarterback position. Yeah and and it's a quarterback controversy and there's nobody there's no way to get around is definitely a quarterback controversy. In so you'll it was variations in Vernon Davis after the game said. That there were plays he he he had a good day I mean Vernon Davis was ecstatic with having 83 yards receiving five. Passes the -- He's and a touchdown and a touch him. He said that there is plays that. That generally -- are always called but don't come to them to the tight end that Alex doesn't throw this passes all the governing does. You hype that got off he's got admit that the office looked different. And those are the same plays it's just it's the quarterback's decision on where he throws a ball I just get the sense that Colin cap for next. Has a lot more confidence in throwing outside the numbers and throwing deep then Alex Smith does and that. That offense looked completely different it's the same office it just looks different. And I just I would think at this point that you and Alex Smith having symptoms of the concussion later in the week that sort of were triggered later in the week. Maybe just give him another week of rest. Let happening goaded to New Orleans and then figure out what to do it. -- So a lot of time back there too so we have Frank Gore said Alex Smith they have a very game in this circumstance. So it's really hard to say you can't let in and say what happened about Smith -- in there as well but you're right contact and it really didn't write as much as I expect him to -- stadium was more of a pocket passer. But we -- that Bobby has got some help. Crabtree great yards after the catch Manningham yards after the catch as well I mean his receivers -- doing very well against the DBs it covered. Yeah there's there's no -- you know that the pass he made it to Kyle Williams island game 57 yarder. I'm on the right side and it out that was a beautiful throw I mean just hit him in stride. It was a beautiful throw. He made more great throws today than I've seen him make in the first two training camps of his career I mean I think he's one of these kids. That kid I mean it was 25 years old he's one of these players that. Win he gets out here. And he's a gamer he makes plays and he didn't have to make plays with his legs and we know he's fully capable of making plays of his legs but he admitted with his arm. He -- caused one injury Randy Moss his fingers he went out for a an incompletion after and pleasing his fingers were hurt and injured came back into the game but ask Michael Crabtree after that game what's that. Like to catch -- it's not as we know how hard he throws he's like. -- -- an adjustment but at least you know to get it and I'm very early in the season and 49ers are preparing to face Matthew Stafford it's on the defensive backs. On a forum for saying we're ready for Matthew Stafford we can catch all of the throws he makes because. We go up against college African practicing yet there's no doubt the guy has an absolute cannon. It will be interesting to see how things unfold this week a short week is a go to the Saints on Sunday and we'll see how many Red Sox -- we'll get. And practices -- even if he'll be cleared to play so this is like you said this controversy is going to be not really controversy they can win either way but this is going to be interesting to see who Harbaugh goes with on Sunday. And I would think the gamesmanship well I mean I I don't know what Jim Harbaugh as planned as I I can't imagine if he's gonna announce a starter I mean I mean does he have to though does he have to say who the starter is but. You know I think it it kind of benefited the 49ers to have. -- of the delays. Announcement. Jim Harbaugh claim that that -- didn't know until Monday morning that Alex Smith hadn't been cleared that's a play but. The team had already made the decision Sunday night -- -- could be the starter. It's the defensive side of the bombing Alden Smith five and a half sacks he had nine and a half coming into this game. Fifteen on the season he only had fourteen his rookie year and that's he's a pass rush specialist so -- my gosh. They Arie has six games left and he can very well I think -- kids at the single season record I mean if he has. Two or three or four multi sack games which could very well be done I mean he was just unbelievable tonight. He was. And he did it with the power game I mean he was Helio we saw last year we the that vision out in our minds of all it's been getting a sack is. Justice Smith barreling into the guard in this manner are grabbing the -- there and here comes all of -- Smith -- speed to get around common touch today. There was he was touched on every -- you bull rush. Bull rushes galore for all of -- Smith and he just destroyed the tackles for the Bears. Think Justin Smith kind of was left out may be on one or two half sacks that he deserved he certainly did -- the way on a couple of -- -- But those guys were those guys were both bull rush in their sides of line and did it I mean they word there -- a race suit to Jason Campbell right and they just in they would often times it seems like you know which Smith is gonna get the sack. Nodded both were -- -- very impressive games and had the whole season. I just -- -- justice that hadn't had a sack. Before tonight's and I guess he was only credited with a half sack. But man -- -- he had dominant presence in the pacers' game as well. Afterward I had a chance to speak with Navarro -- and I said what was the difference in stopping the run game for the Bears -- Matt -- -- game for them as well we know that they struggled last week against the Rams giving up 141 quarter points and embarrassing. The Bears came in and try to do the same thing that the Rams did -- this time. They were ready for prepare for you saw the difference I -- 36 total yards in the first half minus one yards passing for the Bears I mean the defense really took over this. In early is it determined game for the for some adding defensively offensively and and it. Offensive game plan was good they opened up with a couple play action passes -- first three games to really get. -- Kapanen going to defense was it was on it from the beginning that's starting up front. You know in the linebackers were outstanding on the secondary played very UT to. Interceptions and Gholston and -- brown so there's absolutely zero holes you can poke in this win for the 49ers. Even add one more -- special teams they had Devin Hester going backwards in negative yards I mean that was something that their coverage units. Have been criticized for they really mean giving up big yardage this year. And this game they were certainly able to that much control the Bears return in David Akers got back on track with some some. Still goals of of under forty yards. But I think a lot of people might like to missing a lot of -- are -- there there. Backup quarterback you know did that make a difference I don't think it made much difference at all I mean clearly Jason Campbell was overmatched by the 49ers defense. I'm not sure they -- Jay Cutler when it also have been overmatched on this night.
