Alex Smith demoted on Wednesday reacting on Thursday. -- -- took the upper road but you could tell was clearly still disappointed -- shaken up. Now there's no question about it I think he was. He was literally playing the best football he's ever played in his NFL career at the time -- -- the lineup. So yeah it stings because the he came back this season thinking that is the next step was the Super Bowl fights out the next step is the sideline and by the way. You can hear the music playing in the back -- this is the forty guys are practicing right now so the offense that's the ball they're preparing for the crowd noise. Of the dome insane run a zone which is very loud guy and so that's what college cabernet is working by the silent count back there. And getting ready to play that the Rams on Sunday but yet go to Coxnet. I mean huge volume on it all the stuff he's been through. In his career this has to be the absolute lowest. Yeah and you know if you asked him what he prepared for this and he said you know he never prepared but I kind of saw it coming the way it was playing out. And we asked him did you try to talk him out of that he's a coach Harbaugh I don't know -- change his mind. And it's something he carefully thought out. Clearly Jim Harbaugh thinks this gives the team the best chance to win long term perhaps a Super Bowl and you could argue. Well look at what Harbaugh has done are we to question the methods of this coach. Yeah it ended. One of the things that out Smith said she was wells will win we Jim Harbaugh got up here on Wednesday he said. How did you word it. The hot hand right on governing spot in that tip the scales well I think he would walk a lot more in depth balance mentally scotsman. It's a native dad then that he sat down cap for next had been told them exactly what his thinking was and of course that's something else that -- -- scheerer. Neither will -- predicted and of course Jim Harbaugh won't either just between those three guys but. Is insisting that I don't know that shots off the reasoning because he feels like -- the only thing he did wrong this whole thing was getting in the past. And it brings up the point you've talked about this -- Little more players be reluctant to self report symptoms of a concussion. It's. Definitely opens up that door and the guy who's feeling something in his head that if they can't quite pinpoint it. Did they learn that a cautionary tale about Smith unfortunately. It opens the door for guys thinking that you know what maybe I shouldn't say -- things. To the medical staff because. You know how football is I mean it's -- out there playing. That's that's grade this is -- you go off the field you open the door for somebody else take your job. Last question that any sense is there any divisive us in the locker room. I don't think so I don't sense that I think everybody. Deals. Bad for Alex -- that he was put in this position -- this position has been sort of thrust upon him because of the concussion. But I also -- a lot of optimism for us on the offensive guys. About cap for next in the potential he had so do you mind. A guy like. Joseph Staley who told me after the game on Sunday that Alex is his PSS. Best friends forever to catch it and know that I'm hip again -- -- hit my. Two small children and they just felt so it's a familiar about it yeah. But anyway -- raising my children -- Hilliard Americans move Juan -- Africa. But I think if he citizen it's weird. But every these guys are professionals they all have a job they know what they have to do it just it awkward situation because of the way it came down but I don't think there's any. Joseph and Steve -- Joseph Geiger Steve guy I think everybody's on the same page and it helps and Alex Smith is a perfect true professional and really can sort of deal with this phone's -- -- that means -- --
