Bring in are these insider Casey Pratt. From Nashville with more on the -- plans in the -- baseball winter meetings -- first of all shortstop is still a big question mark for this team we were led to believe these Stephen Drew era is over. Maybe not so fast. I'd say it's quite the opposite over Scott. You know just talking to Billy -- not long ago in his suite he mentioning he's gonna talk with Scott Boras right here at the winter meetings probably sooner. Rather than later that that doesn't mean something's gonna get done here typically the -- don't end up getting things done here to Stephen Drew still option. One day at this point for the openings and option one B perhaps. Possibly knocking -- any international free agent Japanese shortstop Bob Melvin actually said. That he has come up in internal discussions so he could be another option at shortstop for the it's OK we've seen this team dealing young arms like they're going out of style in previous seasons. Should we expect guys to be on the block this time around. You know they deal the young arms because they have so much depth the depth is something that they're really interested in this here they don't wanna go in with five starting pitchers. They wanna go with six or seven. Right now they have six guys that could take the mound. And they could at a seventh and Brandon McCarthy they actually saying that they've had conversations with himself the a's are not gonna deal their starting pitching and in an attempt to acquire shortstop via trade they'd probably have to deal some of that pitching so. I would say don't look for the trades to happen with the a's these -- probably in -- stick with Stephen Drew as a free agent shortstop if they can lend him. You mentioned Brandon McCarthy and obviously this is a two pronged equation -- his health. And him being a free agent what more can you tell us about -- situation. Well right now they are obviously talking to him -- be interested in bringing him back McCarthy and obviously in the interest in coming back. It's a great fit for him and it's a great fit for the a's organization and he's a great leader for the young pitching staff -- Right now there's tots has been stated you know he's a guy that's gonna drum up a lot of interest in the a's are interested in being market setters they'd rather sit back. Let him get some offers and see if they can counter and still land him.
