Having a good many backs here at the 49ers facility on Wednesday to prepare for the divisional playoff game this is going to be the match and Indy express we went to -- yesterday we're gonna keep it to. Under five minutes today right let's start. Craig gore coming up to the podium and speaking to the media gets the big question really for gore and this running game is -- -- tail off toward the end of season. And a lot of that might have to do with the read option plays of their gene -- what. What say you yeah I mean I think that's -- that's the only thing that can really point to I think the run blocking has been good for most of the season but I think. It's a different style running for Frank Gore and have the ball stuck in his it is Valium and you know either Capps pulls it out or Frankie city did force him to be a lot more patient he's a one cut -- depth -- field kind of guy and I think. That -- aggressiveness is kind of curtailed -- those read option plays are called. That but he is a football player he will suggest he -- wanna make a big issue out of it. Well the one player that has adjusted very well the -- Michael Crabtree he even said just a few weeks ago the practices. Were harder when -- it became the quarterback not because. Football's any harder but -- get get to focus more work on chemistry and timing but he says chemistry is developed in games and we certainly saw that the last game of the regular season. Analyst -- that feeling we're talking Allen Iverson. -- -- -- -- you can work on chemistry to a certain point but chemistry is developed in games. And he said if he has success in the games that carries over to the next week and carries over to season. I two degree I mean I don't really care how these guys are practicing. It's it's about performing in the games and Crabtree has been absolutely performing in the games and cap and it has been looking for I don't think there's any question in my mind. That Crabtree who likes having happening as his quarterback a lot more than you like Alex Smith. He has said it though. To his credit he has said it publicly expressed a lot of frustration after that playoff game after the champs -- game last year. 163 yards talked a lot of opportunities. Well the thing that's -- does well. Is that he throws outside the numbers he's not afraid to throw it outside the numbers right they. Alex Moore likes to throw between the numbers and I think that's why he was so successful -- Vernon Davis and not a successful. On a week to week basis. With Crabtree because Crabtree as an outside receiver I think Stafford passed these dial. That suits those outside receivers pretty well in the one thing you did bring up that I want heated talk about right here though is that. Yes Crabtree Catherine baker having that chemistry together Vernon Davis not so much and it could be possibly. The way Catherine it throws the ball and the speed with which he threw. I think so I haven't I seen Vernon Davis is the guy who's not necessarily here hands catcher in the -- to catch the ball his body and I think -- I've seen him -- -- On the practice field and warm ups and the part and sometimes struggles to catch those Blazers. And I think we're really shows up is yards after the catch and I think a lot of as Vernon is. Really concentrate on making that catch and he almost gets tackled immediately and his yards per catch -- yards after the catch I mean. Had just dwindled I mean pretty much disappeared. Since jeopardy has taken over as quarterback who knows even in the Bears game -- others that passes out of the Bears game where we're passes that he caught you on the field so. I've got to say the numbers what 140 with Smith yards after the catch and about or. Yeah so. Burnings -- offensive production capacity as as really gone downhill to these levels that it was. When Mike Martz pretty much do you emphasize that the -- in position 2008 so. Are right now I am I don't see those guys. -- if they're certainly not do -- on Sundays and and other working out there on the practice field right now to try to get that thing heated up again. To get -- back to something similar to what he was in the postseason last year or a year ago he was. In Vernon davis' words he was the Miami -- and in Crabtree was. Now I think they they need to find that happy medium get both of those guys involved as well as Frank Gore. And we're in our final minute so once again we need B Justin Smith update we are that way digestive Smith -- OK I got beat Justin Smith update for the week I if you want every day of the week here's the deal. He will play Saturday. Will he play effectively for how long nobody knows justice that doesn't know the coaching staff doesn't know the medical staff doesn't know. I mean that's a lot of torque on that elbow he's he's not doing much in practices. They wanna get into the starting line healthy. On Saturday with a -- Bears play the Packers but -- once the game starts. All bets are off nobody knows how he'll be over form but he will be out there. On Saturday when my favorite questions that Jim Harbaugh at today's press conferences when he was asked. If the brace that Justin Smith wears on his left arm allow him to be close to 100%. Give him support he needs it it's on his offensive line he's like. I gonna have to interview the brace. And then he said manufacturers couple seconds later yeah generally we we talked a little bit about this in the in the press trailer. Here's something that. You talk about that that elbow and what did you answer is that the triceps and it. Yeah he does a good job. You're using he has to use that are. I mean -- yeah it's funny because of his size because he's on the right side if he likes to. Quick grab that guard. And pull him over into the tackle that allows all the Smith to come around so he likes to occupy when he's at his best he's occupying too. Two blockers well that's that left arm is very into goal to what suits his game it's I think it's more important -- even his his right arm because that. How he's function I wouldn't be surprised if the 49ers. You know maybe moving him over a lot to the other side hill. You know based on what he's able to do practice maybe that might be the best thing for them to do -- move him to the left side. And maybe move all that Smith over there a little bit both of those guys have have switched a little bit back and forth but but maybe there's less torque. Required less know where it's hair on his right arm -- or on his body he's able to do that on the left side. Hendry is because of emotion in that direction he's moving toward the quarterback. When he's on the -- and well it's going to be very -- to watch for keeping it short if -- were done because we're going to be back again tomorrow once again remember hash -- quest for six. Is that and you could win a pair of tickets to this Saturday's game and be sure to watch this on it. The chronicle live at five. At sports net central at 6 and 49ers central 630.
