At Mayo coming evacuate the 49ers facility on Thursday -- -- -- last -- many before the 49ers play the green bay Packers and their divisional playoff game and we got an answer to the kicker situation and it's not. The ninety minutes before game time but a few days before and you shall I have to admit I was a little somewhat surprising David Akers will remain the 49ers kicker for Saturday. Yeah thank god it's over now that we know we can move on with our lives. -- interest in fact about this is that. The 49ers signed Billy Cundiff because they thought he was the best guy available he's on their 53 man roster and then over the weekend Seattle's kicker goes down. And so Seattle didn't have Billy Cundiff available they went with Ryan Longwell selves get kind of a little added. Subplots. The 49ers and -- Seahawks. They -- too early each other more ways than one and then. Harbaugh saying that even though David Akers is and has been named the kicker for Saturday Billy Cundiff will remain on the roster for the rest of -- season I didn't see him there's no reason I was no reason to -- -- any but any grief any person that it would. Assigned to take his spot on the 53 now when it suit up anyways so there's absolutely no reason to -- him and the one thing that -- said more than likely he will not be active on Saturday gives us one thing Harbaugh said he wouldn't rule out as possibly having two kickers active so we thought that was highly unlikely given. Justin Smith situation and speaking of justice messed -- you know you like you're do you regret. Yep his -- partially torn triceps tendon in his left elbow. He will play Saturday but we don't know for how long. Nobody knows for how long how or how effective he'll be also I just sort of point to like you foreigners being optimistic though that he can be it's pretty close to the old Cowboys that everybody here and knows loves -- that's. I was gonna say because today Donte Whitner is in sight seeing that justice Smith it was out of practice moving around Leonard Davis who's probably is Jim Harbaugh called the largest -- lean on earth. But it's I don't know really how accurate that is how much you can put into that just because I ended act are witnessing human being told that Justin really isn't testing it's a full strength to see exactly what he can can do. Yeah I know everything there when you hear that talent doesn't Smith is performing on the practice field I think you can sort of take with a grain of salt because none of that will matter it's all about what happens. Saturday in legacy that I mean he doesn't know nobody really knows how that thing or if that thing will be held at. To hold up he's gonna be cabinet he'll Wear a brace on his elbow and as we talked about yesterday I think there's a pretty decent chance that they might switch sides form and have them lining up more on the on the left side it's. So that he can. Maybe use the. I just strength in his right exactly hand and then we did hear that today as well. The first time in awhile from Alex Smith to -- very difficult situation for him this season as an unexpected mid season quarterback changed at places he's in the middle of one of the best seasons he's had at the following last year's NFC championship Bret you spoke about calling Capra making improvement he's seen -- calling. Could -- many easy but he says it's mainly thinking how college is preparing mentally and is making decisions very quickly that's an improvement -- Louisiana. That's going to be needed Saturday in the Aaron Rodgers to keep pace and they need to win that Green -- out. Yeah I think it's something that everybody around here's -- expressway it's. Then Colin Cameron any young quarterback hasn't played like young quarterback that hasn't happened and -- large number of those kind of I'm an old. Breakdowns and I think you'd expect very very young guys so -- Galaxy and obviously very gracious. In his praise for Allentown morning but another sidelines. Greg Roman and Jaguars and the connection there -- David Caldwell being the GMs and also Alex Smith. Was asking his Jaguars right now that is an awesome any connection the Chargers as well yeah but I'm I'm I'm. Played him more for the Alex that thing off and nearly charges have their quarterback against the Jaguars certainly don't have a quarterback. So if David Caldwell. College roommate of a great Romans. And teammates as well John Carroll University decides to go with Greg Roman has his toed shoes then all of a sudden Alex Smith comes into play. Big time it's Jacksonville especially is guess -- subjects have which Alex is very well. You telling Rees Jones-Drew appearing. -- -- values should be kind of a nice little situation there. For him as well you know and a strong back that he can handle that often surrounds. In similar fashion right I really ready else talked about I think maybe talk about is always together then you're -- the players they've got to the final final practice on Friday morning they're very relaxed they're having fun they say they've been focused they call this the best week of practice they've had all year. They just said the energy levels high they're well rested at the practices have been so good and so efficient they actually finished early. To get additional rest so they said they are ready to go but caught -- -- energetic haven't find that very calm. Yeah and they're gonna have to be calm and playing her boys because the Packers have that big play big striking capability. Forty guys could find themselves down early in the game you never know forty hours to build a lead like they did against the Patriots but then they can't let their guard down because of Packers can come back in a hurry selves -- they got to be ready for everything that the Packers throw out of some look at sports and I'm sure you have a prediction. I -- now I wouldn't let critics say adjust however it is -- yeah this what I I will say that this has been very hard for me calls sometimes you do get an idea. How the 49ers will do against another team that they're just so many. Unknowns -- for the 49ers this first round of the playoffs for them and you -- went Packers did last week see you know little bit more about them back I just really don't know. About -- and they're not about -- instead -- really don't know about the running game and he'll be able to include Vernon Davis in the passing game. There's just still so many unknowns. And as they say playoffs are a whole different season and that's always a -- somebody unexpected shows up. And sometimes people who you rely on don't sell it it's it's hard to call it's obvious that a key is for David Akers to perform. But to perform kicking extra points and -- totals don't don't put him in a spot where he has to go out there for 42 yarder. You could put the ball. In the end -- that's the -- That's one thing to into the 49ers do fall behind we don't know how they'll perform this year because you never see them come. From behind to win this year like they did last year that's another -- this is my and I am really hard time grasping at. And as a -- of time. -- absolutely I must be the final Matt many things this week we certainly will meet. Back on Saturday after the game and we will see them so enjoy the game everyone have a great weekend be safe.
