He NHL is back volleys a lot on chronicle live unparalleled. Sharks coverage we had called we had Murray win could shore. Now are chronicled convert tape our conversation here -- chronicle live -- to the brass the head coach Todd McLellan joining us on the program you know earlier this week you address the media. And I was watching some of your comments. And less hearing them but watching you when you smile on your face why why such the big smile. Well it's what we do we're excited about being back you know we -- the players being excited yearbook. Of course the fans naturally being excited but that the coaching -- excited as well spent a lot of time in the offseason. Reviewing her game we've got to go to new people -- stuff there Robinson Jim Johnson and -- excitable put them to work -- and get going what's the biggest challenge of preparing for this 48 -- -- are our number one goal in training camp when that does occurs to get the players of the -- -- They're all gonna shore up and at different stages of their seasons some of them play thirty games in Europe too -- and others haven't played any games so we've got to look at each of the individuals. -- where there out where we need to get into -- in less than a week and then go from there will we may -- season different line combinations that you wouldn't see because -- -- Kelly some guys are game ready they've been out there playing other guys -- fit but not game ready yet. Absolutely and one of the things that we talked about initially was starting the familiarity so role. -- line combinations and deep pairings were the players are familiar with each other but. At at the first sign of somebody being not ready to play or somebody injury or slowing down a group for repair. How lost McCutcheon heard what you mentioned some changes with your assistant coaches what are you wanna see done differently. -- the -- one of the big reasons was it was just the relationships in the locker room particular Robinson and Jim Johnson former players. Guys that have experience. Throw two regular season throw -- -- years and certainly -- during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Double make some of our players in our locker room feel more comfortable. Over and above that are penalty kill us to improve from from where it was last year we think that they can come in an officer and a lot of people on the name Larry Robinson he's got great credentials on the ice and behind the bench -- he helped you walked off the outs. Well he's been through a lot. -- hall of fame player. Former coach that. That has been through a lot as early as an individual he's been through a lot of the stressful situations been through some come from situations. I feel very good about being around him tapping his experience and and he's been very open with matured a lot and I think it's a real good next to this point 42 to continue I don't. Aren't all week all along we've been asking Sharks fans to ask questions we knew we're gonna have you want. Later in the week and this one coming on Twitter at -- -- CSN this is from Josh. Calls himself Factiva -- are you ready this is a question of what will you do. To improve the PK I know -- you knew that question was coming absolutely was your question by Josh and obviously there's some some changes systematically that we're gonna implement we'd -- -- more aggressive group we'd like to -- call them gold points or you're attack points where we can all reacting. And jumping trying to squash the other team's penalty kill but each one of the players each one of the coaches has to accept some responsibility there whether it's an -- -- from our goaltenders. Play around -- that former defenseman blocked shots from our forwards. A lot of those situations or sacrifice situations when asked for players to do that more but. Systematically that's gonna come from the new coach and stuff you have a lot of veterans guys -- thirty years of -- and up hollow is as good 48 game season. Was going to be harder on them -- it is a sprint there's no time on there's no middle third of the season while we're definitely gonna find that out censor out real quick -- At this point I think all of those players are are professionally take care of himself away from the rink at the rink there in in tip top condition. We expect everybody to -- open and mentally be prepared to us to play. And I like the idea of having experience I like the idea of having a a team that's been together for a little while. But then again we've got to get don't do it -- that's our job was to -- perform as well as we can each and every night.
