You know everybody's -- covered pretty professionals -- general good shape. And I'm sure all of you know it's been a little bit and it's a weeks you know it doesn't seem long but his younger guys and you know pretty good shape and you know once it became you know stuff like planning name's Julio -- Gonna be ready and you know -- all the -- in the first game but you know guys you know like this are guys gonna look in good shape and good practice days hopefully you know continue tomorrow. That's the captain Joseph Thornton Sharks getting going on Sunday any -- starts Saturday Sharks wait till Sunday. Two on the road Calgary Sunday you'll get it -- -- for the California two days later. There in Edmonton. -- take on the Oilers let's get some Sharks conversation going here. Pulled over by the way the 24 against the Phoenix Coyotes let's get it going here chronicle live our -- insiders Kevin Kurz. And because it's a 48 games spread another a lot of questions about positions I wanna ask about the goaltender position. He's always in the any dirty -- and a back up a qualified back up because everything's coming so fast. Here's my take on the goalie situation -- your starter he's got three years left on his deal he had an -- season last year by the numbers but that he was letting in some bad goals at the bad times. The second half it's part of the reason teens troubled even get in the playoffs. The jobs his he likes to play a lot 48 games I could see him he's playing well played forty games but. You don't have time if he gets off to a bad start you don't have time to wait for him to get ready you have Thomas -- -- capable backup goalie had a decent year last year. I expected job -- the -- at first. He's gonna play I would think at least the first. Four games itself. But but he's got to play well because he's got Thomas price and then as they just said you know they can't wait they're gonna have to ride the hot hand in a shortened season. Because every -- going to be so important. And you need to be good in that line in front of the goalie the blue -- need to play well Brent Burns where does he stand right now health wise -- -- question he hasn't skated yet the team isn't saying anything we don't have the Sharks are the injuries are very tight lipped about injuries. The burst of skating with his teammates before the lockout ended lockout and -- on Saturday night. Officially ended on Saturday night can't sort of Sunday and since then we haven't seen -- who don't know -- yesterday was working out off the ice. He had groin surgery in May. Had skated really until -- these the couple days leading up to the training camp but. He's not skating right now so I think he'll be real stretch to expect burns in the first game in Calgary is this an Andrew Bogut situation they're gonna. This guide everyone on an injury they just they're just the injuries -- just crying yeah yeah I wouldn't say the missed guiding -- misleading anyone but. He's not skating right now so that really tells you all and all you need to know at this point in terms of where he NC when he can't skate. You can't play. Very short training camp one week of training camp and then you start playing some games so for Todd MacCulloch. We're three goals he wants to trying to accomplish in this one week that he has to put it altogether. Well the first goal is getting over everybody up to game speed. And that's tough but it might be a little bit easier for McLellan it comparisons to some other teams because we had eleven Sharks play overseas at least one point. Guys like Joseph Thornton played somewhat thirty games over Switzerland Logan -- maybe construction Switzerland. The two goalies each played overseas in their respective countries so. He should have a little bit of advantage there but at the same time there's some guys like Dan boils Brad Stuart Patrick Marleau. These guys haven't played in the can be real competitive environment game environment. In and be nearly nine months. By the time the Sharks play on January 20 since last playoff -- some real players -- that -- April April when. They're so I think that that's amazing to think it was that far away as one offering this line it sounds good to me I'll take it got one thing we know though last season. The penalty kill stock. They'll tell you that it's stock learn Robinson has been brought in is he gonna work without what does his influence gonna be on this team while it's Larry -- not -- Robinson Jim Johnson the other assistant coach that brought in. Robinson of course is credentials speak for themselves -- Stanley Cup -- from the greatest defenseman of all time. We saw them walking through the PK early practice hearing -- -- video right here if it was and saying it at one point they stopped everything and McLellan addressed the team. Larry Robinson addressed the team Jim Johnson addressed the team and they'll tell you this is a group effort to fix the PK and what Todd did was. When Johnson and Robinson came in he didn't he didn't tell them anything about the PK he just had them watching video. And they watch the video and came back of their own ideas about it and now they're gonna have to implement it on short on time is this team in the hunt this year it's so wide open -- is this team it's all good -- in the hunt here I see them as a playoff team to some questions there -- the goaltender in the third and fourth lines the injuries on defense there are some real questions I think their playoff team but I still don't see them. In the tier of the Vancouver's the Chicago's LA's the saint louis' I do see them a step below the teams are. All right well we'll have to see it play up to forty games Kevin -- thanks for your time read and CSN Bay Area dot com that -- insider around all right. We're gonna drop punt for -- -- on Sunday for the Sharks pregame live 230 Sharks Calgary Flames go out of all of my post game live Brody and Brett. They got Randy injury got hockey it is back and it is on Comcast sports net California.
