Matt Mayo coming back here at the 49ers training facility -- NFC championship week Wednesday that means the national media showed up today it was a packed. Media tents for the press conferences that Jim Harbaugh calling -- Patrick Willis and Justin Smith will start with Justin Smith that. Even national media was here there's one person -- he's not a media never but I didn't see him. Today I'll Freddy. Now that's a good side is a great sign mean the players going about their business as usual because they're he obviously a lot of attention right now everyone coming in wanting -- know every little detail. When they need to focus. On what they need to accomplish to Sunday against the Falcons that. The start -- just dismissed as a first time he spoke to the media since the game and he spoke after the game against Green Bay that everybody of course wanting to know how his elbow. Is holding up with that partially torn triceps tendon and he said very well he does not like the brace but he is getting used to it. Yeah and I think that that bodes well -- it's. You know it getting used to it felt like the first game was kind of a feeling out process he was a little bit of feel uncomfortable feelings there with -- but now. He says he's feels stronger. This week they needed a week ago and Wednesday at practice before practice for Justin Smith so. Last week he was limited the entirely I think the entire forty niner organization from top to bottom. Kind of holding their breath. Can't just dismiss get through this key and he. Take them that day on and Deanna out punishment that it defensive tackle has -- taken the answer is a resounding yes so now it's -- can do it. And now let's move on I think that's good for just that because. -- won't be at the forefront of his mind anymore and that's the hardest -- is -- not knowing not knowing how long he can play how strong he can play now he's been able to test that. And have a good idea and that's certainly going to bode well for him because as he mentioned. The reading games for Atlanta a lot of people overlook get that he he is not. No I mean it's a good running game they just didn't perform all that well I mean when you have a Michael Turner who is. You know one of the top running backs in the league ever since he came over from the charges of the Falcons. Thirteen hundred yards last year this year is averaging like three and a half from three point six yards -- carry that's that's not the kind of numbers that. That's the Falcons want from from Michael Turner and John was Rodgers. A guy -- is -- different styles of -- but. The 49ers defense of players they watched highlight reel of film or hill after film reel of turner and Rogers. -- to figure out their styles what's gonna work best against them and the thing that the players said is that they did not stop on first contact me it's. They're going to second half for their guy on third effort -- -- to me I think probably what -- after stressing as if a guy's gonna keep battling. -- -- yards if you're late to the pile. Go get that football and so I think you know the foreigners believed that there might be some opportunities if there's running and they know they're not going down to try to get the ball other grass. -- know he runs loaded grounder that we've been told by several coaches and players and very strong player not a fast player but at the good Weaver. Is -- he's really good at picking different directions different lines not -- fast cutter. In essence but he's just a reason and now and and plays really loaded he grounds that he can be hard to bring down. Speaking of running calling -- for it of course how do you stop. His running game in and do the Falcons have the players to do so but this is something like we've heard -- -- -- say hey this pissed off at Saddam information everything you're seen. It it's kind of phasing -- see it being here permanently but if he gets them through the playoffs it playoffs it adds that another wrinkle that defense -- have to. Defend against that will work in their favor but. I mean it's really hard to argue how well it's working right now I don't know it is it. That phase or fat guys I think did. There are certain elements out of it. Yet you can keep the power game that's why you know that the running back is right behind the quarterbacks he can still -- that downhill. You know it. I know the blocking scheme this season Alou did that against the Packers because they felt like they did they kick out of just straight ahead. In those lanes and be straight ahead north and south so. When you have that element that you can still had that north south element along with the of the stretch of the angles. I don't see why can't be. It's something that that lasts longer but. When you look at that the teams remaining forty hours are the only ones he used it. You to that today degree so. We'll see I mean it's. I think -- foreigners feel like. Clearly it's it's good enough to have the talent they have the scheme. To win a couple more games and that's what it's all about and go back to just Smith batted very interesting observation and his partner he is one of those guys in the off season. Reunion has that same feeling though are the Atlanta Falcons they had eight. -- Agassi -- could say all season long -- that because their past three post seasons before this one they were one and done one game out of class and done they're tired of that first round -- are you saying they're this they're there addition the same as for after a year ago yeah I mean just say you know they they wanna just as badly they said we've been. Out after the first game in the playoffs meaning every year they the end of a lot of them this is their first NFC championship game the first one -- hosting in Atlanta. They want a breakthrough that barrier they finally did that by beating Seattle but -- hey we're going -- -- they have that same mindset so. I well I almost think it's like the foreigners have a year ago and where they finally won the game they got the only and they wanted to dramatic fashion. -- gave it back. Seeing god it. Very -- of four yeah as they won that game there's I think there's a lot of celebrating going on and feel the monkey's off Matt Bryant's back the monkey's off my -- that I think the -- I think they'll. The Falcons are kind of in a similar situation hasn't foreigners were a year ago which may two weeks to me makes the 49ers. Better prepare better prepared -- better ready to handle this NFC champs -- at a game. Up an interesting actually yeah I did -- that is the fact that they've had those three early exits before. I you know I don't know their mindset like we can coming here everyday and see how the 49ers are doing it. I know that that is dragging them to get past just that NFC championship game as well and speaking to couple people I want missing days of his games to come down to the matchups are pretty strong. They think is gonna come down to scheme. I mean obviously this team has a better scheme of course execution -- an excuse but you know play calling and scheme is going to be a big factor in this game as they are all games. But this is obviously the time a year where. Talent is not really get a ticket up -- is everyone. Is playing at a high level well I think I think it comes down to matchups I think and I think I. I think the 49ers match up very well with this team. And if you look at the matches we talked about the running game I think the foreigners can run the ball. On the Falcons I think they can make some plays in the passing game on the Falcons the Falcons have one of these bend but don't break defense is I think the 49ers can't break them. Now if you're looking for the matchup on the other side. That if -- forty niner fan I'd be concerned about it would be the passing game you know how do you stop those two wideout Julio Jones and Roddy White. And in conjunction with -- Tony Gonzales and also the running game without running game is clicking a little bit in the in the 49ers can't force the Falcons to be one dimensional. Now that's the matchup. So either way he'll live of the game's gonna swing on one of those matchups Selig and be the 49ers. Get in and their running game I think I think it's either runs the ball will be will be the team that wins a game. Of course they're on everyone's mind as well as the crowd noise in the Georgia Dome is that going to be an advantage for Atlanta Delanie Walker. You know simply put he's -- it could be absolutely we have to go in there with our game plan and try to get some points up on the forties if they get points on the board. It'll certainly quiet the crowd and crowd noise will be much of an issue said that it is issue absolutely they're gonna have to change too. Not a simpler offense that something that will be easier to rank in and that crowd noise so he's definitely could. I'd take him out of their original game plan we'll just have to adjust but that's part of it. And I -- thing you know it's and it's not a real fun thing to talk about let you turnovers I think you're going to be huge and one of the players told me that the the coaching -- this week is expected to be lucky. And act kind of like expect to be left what does that mean -- what it means is when an opportunity presents this -- itself. If front of you take advantage of it if if something bad happens for the Falcons make sure that you as a forty -- capitalizing. And what was kind of driven home with -- plays that CJ Spiller made.
