-- Jim Harbaugh addressing the media welcome back in chronicle live presented by Farmers Insurance they bring back Bill Romanowski also money -- and -- rattle our senior insider nfl.com. As he's out right now on the 49ers and how they targeted Jim Harbaugh. Back in 2010. When Mike Singletary was still the coach of the 49ers. Was a pretty bad and sorry team at that point in here is just a couple of years later. Is Jim Harbaugh the single biggest reason. Re read -- -- with you that the 49ers are in the Super Bowl right now. I'm gonna say yes although it's kind of a qualified one because this is still a game played by athletes players. What he did though was come into a situation where there was talent on the team. Any assembled a better. He got people who do things differently than they did before -- That the coordinators that made the offense and the defense front particularly the defense. Think change is still doesn't get enough credit for the work he's done making this a top three defense of team. So you have to say ultimately that Jim Harbaugh jump started this a Smart hiring. Understanding what his players could and couldn't do and putting them in situations where they could succeed. So a couple of years ago this team could have been better Tony ten they should have been as bad as they work. Well the first thing that Jim Harbaugh did on the first -- it was he rebuilt Alex Smith. It met that this team could not be where it is now that hadn't happened -- -- -- we have to be dynamic you have to be at least decent. Then it was because the defense was so superb so. If you don't have a -- recommend have a court for many years and Alex was bare under the various assistant coaches and coordinators that he had. So Harbaugh came minutes and I wanna bring Alex Smith back and might have fans groaned. Give me a chance that was -- can do this kid and he made him a decent quarterback and that's where start but like ray said. His staff is terrific. You're right we've forgotten the grown that was a huge -- -- -- -- found out that Alex Smith has come rather given up on this season that was everyone's thought and let's look ahead ray brought this up you played the game now. Players win players -- want to do the dirty work. Do we undervalued the coaching. We overlook. -- in the. Do they have and what affected me yet to better that that they have a big effect okay they got to put -- in the right place okay. When I was in Denver. I was utilized better in Denver that I wasn't differences slope that I was in Philadelphia. I've made a lot more plays -- blitz the quarterback more got more interceptions. So they utilized me better Greg Robinson did a better job. Building packages around me. Coaches. If they put their players in the right position they look really good. And Mike Singletary. To talk a little bit about that he wanted to play Mike Ditka like football. He thought -- yet to be tougher meaner nastier guys. You have to be smarter yeah you gotta be tough. We've got to be smarter to Tribune office absolutely. Yeah smarter and offers his defense right now the Harbaugh has is pretty darn tough speaking of singletary does he deserve some credit. He means some weight put a lot of the pieces that are together in this -- guys. -- easy someone's got to say you know what. He might have coached him the best but somehow he put together the -- the right to our group and Vernon got that Vernon Davis be the first one to say yes singletary gets credit. For Vernon Davis to get a lot -- a teammate Vernon Davis grow up but I think. You look at what Mike Nolan and Scott McLellan did in the similar talent base -- they got to assist with a sign on here. You got the death of Patrick Willis to go to Joseph Staley so they've built a foundation around town and players. But it wasn't until you got a good top notch coaching staff to come in and really put those pieces together. It's not a sexy Vernon Davis is Mike Singletary Alex Smith to Jim Harbaugh. Hypothetical agenda that's not a bad argument -- Sixers.
