Coming out coming back here at the superdome where the 49ers. Lose their first Super Bowl in franchise history this is certainly -- very unexpected loss is because we saw unexpected play. By the 49ers it very sloppy first half turnovers penalties. I just missed coverages and they find themselves at the beginning of the third quarter and a 22 point hole very uncharacteristic. -- this -- just think about it the very first play of the game college happening gets off to a great start when he yard pass to Vernon Davis but he comes back because of any illegal formation penalty. Ending his swing it the next time that the Ravens touched the ball 49ers. Have a defense that stopped to get off the field but no -- mark Brooks. Guilty of offside that extend the drive they scored a touchdown. So there were meltdowns on every side of the ball including special teams in the first eleven seconds of the second half. As a Ravens -- at 22 point lead. And ultimately the foreigners came back they had a chance to win it. The only -- got to within two points they got within five yards from from winning this -- just think about that a 300 yard passer. I won -- first 300. Career his first -- three -- your passing game as well yeah 300 yard passer a 100 yard rusher to 100 yard receivers and all they needed. Was five more yards that's what stands between the 49ers. And six Super -- says you just cannot make any of those mistakes you're conceivable I think the one thing is it -- also the management -- the clock I mean we certainly saw the same problems -- they have called timeouts -- that making the delay in game and they ended up being costly -- -- I think ultimately the thing that possible -- -- the final four plays you know that the fortieth running of offering -- just ripped off a 33 yard run. They have a first and goal from the seven yard line and I think Greg Roman and Jim Harbaugh. You know whoever's calling the plays because Jim Harbaugh -- head coach you know he has veto power. What they did in that final sequence will be questioned forever. You know it if you're gonna be running between the tackles. You know are you -- you get addicted to like the -- in that situation if you're gonna throw pass him there -- -- out first him when Michael team is on the field or try to get him outside. In the end you would would Dean Pees is the deepest corner he was expecting company to run. That the Ravens and and I think the -- offensive line with Frank Gore went back out there on second down they're expecting something. Something you keep the ball on the ground but instead three plays in -- -- to this right side of the field. All the Michael Crabtree all incomplete Jim Harbaugh upset that the second down pass was -- -- pass interference. The one where. Corey Graham -- who was I hear it from behind as the ball was arriving and also Jim -- very upset. That the fourth down pass. To Crabtree in which Jimmy Smith had a good hold on him. I was in defense holding but. And I you know it is. -- with -- no defense holding but my question is that the right play call unequivocal message to Andy exactly mean. -- yet so many weapons in this game I just think it. It's tough because is Donte Whitner said he said if if you make those kind of calls and they work your genius if you don't. Did -- that you messed up well as the 49ers messed up because. Any team like that of that magnitude. We ended the offense was really rolling I mean they were on a roll there at the end. I think I'm up five yards short with this team play. You know. -- Dave Butler is the that they -- they've looked somewhere else or are you of the ball to Frank Gore or cap or just whenever they need to play happening delivered it. And he wasn't the only years. Trusted to make plays as Armisen plays down there. Happening in the first half I have to admit to -- -- its image he looked today like he was questioning some of the decisions whether -- -- -- -- a couple plays Reid decided to -- mentally -- wide open deep but in the very next play. I was very similar route Vernon Davis connected very Davis on that on a big play game so those are things I signed -- I saw him more timid. I thought I'd get a chance to ask him about it then I'd seen in the first two games here in the -- Yeah he missed some plays and is that the pass he -- it -- -- mosque for the for the interception was one he sailed. He miss Crabtree over on the on the sideline. On a play on a third down play that if -- it is it's -- out quickly after a first down they don't have to settle for David Akers field goal and ultimately what this team down 20. Was that the Ravens defense. Forced the 49ers. Just yeah out of the end zone. Unity they had the for a settle for a couple David Akers field goals they have the 49ers you know stopped on the fourth down and the Ravens. They take advantage of everything -- in any kind of tore up the 49ers in the first half. First half -- have to talk about Joseph Flacco as well in his three touchdown passes and we saw -- 49ers defense get some pressure on him early but he was still able to complete passes on the run from Ahmad Brooks and on the Smith early -- McDonald finally brought down for the first time. I mean was that more than defense to think more just Joseph Flacco making plays like he has our post. Well I some of those of the old the one where he just threw it up to on the field and Anquan Bolden just went up and got -- I mean they made some place. A consequently the 49ers didn't make any place in the secondary and there's a play were. Rob Brown was right there are just gonna finish the job and then another play where. Jacoby Jones. You'll really be Chris called brown a double move and they failed to bring him down it is so. But it's -- like when the lights went out in this place. The 49ers found their energy you know the power outage out here seem to supply the prayers -- with energy and it. Whether real or imagined that's you can you can look at this game in two different games -- before power outage after power -- -- might -- -- to that after the Monday night game -- at the Steelers. Last year I as -- players about that is it absolutely that's 34 minute. Unexpected break that they had is certainly was a different game day you could see it and sees Michael Crabtree is 31 yard. Touchdown that was a first session for the 49ers answer -- will -- the very next drive Ahmad Brooks comes up with a big third down sack and then right after that. Frank Gore runs off six yard run with a great block by Delanie Walker he could see the team. Being energized I mean that was something that they needed in the first half you can't start the third quarter like that yes sir the first court. Yeah I mean they got a way of that he answered the Falcons you know digging themselves a seventeen point hole early in the game but you -- the difference is. And the Ravens are at the Falcons the -- Ravens have a good defense and attitude of the 49ers still 31 points. Had their opportunities to win this game and this is going to be tough on as as difficult. As the loss the foreigners sustained in the NFC -- -- game last year was to the Giants. This one hurts far more because you don't want come this far and go home with a consolation prize. Whoever he's conference Lawson after the game my house of what you take out of this season you get to see verbal it's mighty hard to sum it up now -- it. How hard it is to get here you think you have an AC championship last UC ruled a series that it takes a lot of work a lot of offseason work to get here they are now. If they will be back we will be back so I know that the team is gonna have one final. Who rock as they -- divided into the season the players clean up their lockers we'll do another Mac -- there and ninth ranked yet the team is gonna spend the night -- in or Ireland they fly back Monday morning answers to be very long night for them. So any final thoughts before we sign off here from these super them. Well we had a good experience in here and I know that's it I'm sure the 49ers as the players. It's it's got to be a bitter pill to swallow but. I had a great time working with you in New Orleans for a week can. I. I'm sure the our viewers are mighty disappointed but like good memories in this. Whole crew here and they were off -- -- photographers are editors and I just engineers and it just was an incredible team Africa and here in nineteen Comcast are here just in the Bay Area to help on these shows in these wet it's -- so. Matt it's been a pleasure they'll have a lot more -- -- need to wrap up the season and I don't -- two seasons NFC championship game is Super Bowl game hopefully next year they'll be able to close it out of it. It's it's going to be tough -- -- so difficult to -- here a lot of things have to go right but. A lot of veterans on a team. That you know. You do what you just never know a lot of these -- -- you know how tough it is to get here you don't know if you're going to be back but. I just daily said that he feels like that feature this organization is a very good hands with -- -- to quarterback this is the guy who. I even when they are -- things were going well me and the guys showed. You very dynamic on field presence to bring this team back so. I were back in the old days what's in the 49ers and you never felt like. The team was ever out of a game with Joseph Montana at quarterback and trust me I'm not comparing -- -- -- Joseph Montana right now. But I get the same feeling with with talent gap Burnett I mean they have the ability to come back. And it if he can just keep it going he's Jimmy Fund got to watch for a lot of years. Experience is going to sting for very long time that maybe can be motivation. In the future aren't Matt thanks as always and thanks so much routine and CSN Bay Area dot com we'll see you back in the Bay Area later this week.
