-- -- that came along with -- on CSN California dot com and CSN Bay Area dot com and I'm joined by your eighth insider Casey Pratt. And today pitchers and catchers to the field for the first time and so the 2013. Season is officially here. Wanting it's out to me just like last year at the fact that players are coming over in his -- bill Melvin not just. Promoting. -- they're showing -- Indians together because he says team unity starts now so. The players a -- arrive at the facility whenever they want a check in. They get dressed as a team and they come over as a team and I say hey it worked last year stick it that this year but what's not here today at first yeah there. The -- to sit out to me was the very first throwing session yet Brett Anderson on the bullpen mound right next to him. You had Andrew Kerrigan on the bullpen mound in a -- -- and it's kinda cool to see two guys both. Having recovered from Tommy John surgery both throwing off the same mound at the same time under Nelson's watch fly. And Melvin did say he really have to worry about Brett Anderson he barely even watching -- he knew that he has but it was good to see -- in who was throwing his first session since returning from Tommy John surgery. Yeah the first time here and threw for at the front actually sixty feet out so that was really positive anything to it care getting these certainly solid -- Anderson last year -- seen. Sit this year his physique I think that being injured Todd and how important is to keep his health number -- and I he shared that with that but. All even going inside the clubhouse and talking to some of these players that they've been -- -- lot of position players here as well the -- you heard out there what and that's. Really. I think it was good to see Josh Donaldson shelled early today. He asked him it and that's if you are happy being given an opportunity to land the third base job and he almost snapped it means that. Give it I earned you know amused joking but he really did -- -- its good to see him show up early. And make sure to lock down that position that's probably one of the main things that stood out this is early arrival in -- greens early arrival even though he's gonna have a tough time making the team. It's good to see gala that show up early and prove that he does deserve a flight at least get that spot. And that you wrote about today Okajima and now I'm getting a chance with the a's as not roster in by -- signs that. Minor league contracts is trying to find a spot with the Oakland Athletics after having -- -- some time in the majors in the past. He's older guys that analysts on its roster at 37 years -- of course there's Cologne but. What do multi cultural club out there covering right now how that adds to use the chemistry just touch on what you're seeing there's a lot of different cultures and again. Writing on it and CSN Bay Area dot com and CSN California got it's almost like the baseball world can look at the days and it's really a testament to how international game has become. We've got through a lot of live shots today we've managed to -- Okajima and not a team -- not getting confused it's really it's easier had stayed at times it's like -- almost the same name but obviously two different players out there but that being said Okajima is gonna help Nakajima a lot in his transition to the United States and playing baseball and very different -- spring training is they've been telling us out. It's going to be good for Nakajima to have Okajima around and even those 37 is as you noticed Melvin city as a young arm. And I think that -- Curt Young was pretty happy. Getting Okajima around because as a veteran got the experience he gives them a lot in terms of ball and a. Okajima and packaging and the Jets and I of these mini and as -- -- and some guys from Mexico it's going to be exciting year ahead who many thought OK but I think it just an entity is is you that. Agriculture represented a -- so. On that no I just sat phils up to speed on the road it's a classical sign now. Nobody from the a's will be playing in the World Baseball Classic Pedro Pedro Figueroa dropped -- -- Really -- his stuff.
