They are clicking on CSN Bay Area dot com where they are Giants insider Internet actually I am on it -- a big day Giants camp today in Scottsdale. First of all the news of the day kind of like a formality I think Colin Matt Cain officially announced. As the starting pitcher on opening day by Bruce what you first time McCain's career he's got that honor and it's something. You'd assume that -- has done numerous times in his career but the new look back and Tim Lincecum did the last war Barry Zito had the honor the two years before that and then. You going back into Jason Schmidt -- reader Russ Ortiz Mark Gardner territory so. Got -- team hasn't done but certainly an honor that. He's deserving of after the year he had last year just a decorated season and every respect. And you know -- does have a little bit of experience in some of these. Pomp and pageantry starts and pacing yourself through all the delays heated -- at the home opener that'd Giants got the World Series rings two years ago so. He's used to that and that's probably the toughest part of making an opening day starters just sitting around waiting for everything to finish -- yeah. And that was the good news got at the end of the day. Is kind of like hold your breath moment a little bit earlier in the day because they were taken lightly he is at -- with them Pablo Sandoval I think it was -- -- and for the first time. Started with a couple chuckles -- midway through they weren't laughing anymore yeah Buster Posey -- that he is. All for a first pitch curve ball Pablo Sandoval backed out of the box and said oh this is the way it's going to be so. But Pablo did today hit one back McCain a one hopper that -- -- full swing it. And it wasn't scorched really that was pretty firm. And king got his glove up it was news and L screen he's old school he doesn't use that Ellsbury. So it got -- club I was able to deflected tire you might remember -- first alike BP session last three days Hector Sanchez and and actor in a line drive right off of his hind quarters that left a pretty good mark. But seeing as how everything went for team last year maybe this is a good way to start things off and Pablo. And over after that and check out the shoulder majored in was OK everything was fine for Matt Cain now a lot of people think spring training for the players time to take it easy. For the veteran players not always that way and some of the young guys are going for job right now they've got to make an impression immediately a couple of guys in the bullpen -- doing that right now for the Giants. Absolutely we saw a couple of them today and Ramon Ramirez is one of them mean that is he's a little bit late because he signed late. I saw him throw a side session -- mound over from Tim Lincecum looks like he's been thrown a lot. In the winner he really had good velocity and will be interesting to see. What happens when he faces hitters but that's really where that the back comes from as you find out what the swings look like you know at the at bats look like when hitters are comfortable not comparable. And that's what we got just a little bit of a taste of today and the pitchers as they say are always ahead of the hitters but. One guy Chad Gaudin is who has familiar to Bay Area baseball fans -- time the Oakland -- he looked very get everything was down in the zone was moving. He got Buster Posey to throw his -- -- into the netting of the cage and when you can do that to the reigning NL MVP. Pretty good sign your stuff that is it's not too bad -- one hitters were struggling Posey threw is that what you said Brandon belt broke his bat and give that to a fan one more thing bags it wouldn't be. A a web update without a Hunter Pence is -- he had a moment to talk to him about things that Hunter -- thinks about well yeah and and I asked him like kind of occurred to me. This time with the Astros at Phillies all those teams train in Florida as this is your first time in Arizona. You're gonna like it because the longest bus ride as -- hours fifteen minutes the traffic. In Florida and -- -- my time covering the Dodgers in Vero Beach the closest camp would be thirty miles away so. That's a lot nicer when you just have a shorter commute and he said. I never never bother me to get on the long bus writes I just catch up on my reading in. And then I'd go get to play baseball how awesome is that and that's -- for.
