Brian Bachino takes you inside the making of the Giants commercials
Paid -- you had an idea. There appreciate -- I'm thinking -- should give up a notch and how about. Batting stance -- batting stance stance I don't think that's really my style would wait a minute bus sickness that we'll probably lose human show. -- bedroom room in -- bed so it's important chicken. Patty's day. When you think yeah I'll think about. Batting stance stance that's a look at part of the package is going to be the Giants ad campaign this year let's turn the back -- -- chronicle live presented by Farmers Insurance prior and the chino. He's the creative director baker -- advertising. His group comes up with all these ads all the things explainable we just saw their batting stance stance what do we do as well that's that's a spot -- Buster Posey. One of the spots in our new campaign together again which is really a continuation. Of together we're giant campaign started. You know just after the World Series in 2010. The club was very anxious stated and paying homage to its fans and giving credit to that incredible run to the fans. We've kept that going so this year is campaigns continuation. And so what you're going to see all season our fans and players sort of in their acting trying to help each other out and in that particular one our great fan Jay had a you know he -- you know -- he had a good year which is the understatement of turn of the century. But he wants in the kick it up a little bit silly -- and suggestions and certainly suggests that the batting stance and Dan. Sort of like you know Pablo has here is some of the players and. As everybody knows buster is all business and he was trying to be polite but didn't really you know. Probably not gonna do. How difficult was the decision as a creative guy could you guys wanna try new things all the time. To extend the same theme of together again member together we're giant stuff it's all that was a great team. Fans love that stuff. But was it difficult to say let's they would verses we can really turn -- correct. Well you know it really is an art then it started even before we used the words together -- John. -- mean when this you know that we call -- the post bonds era. When these guys started camping together in the first time I I worked with them it -- with. Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum looked like he does now before the hair and when. These guys they were a team and these were guys who played together there was no not really -- superstar that -- set the tone it was a different hero every day. And they started growing and building and it really it. It's totally organic the fact that they came together as a team. And the fans started laughing that I mean they they just they knew these guys more than any other town knows their players. They yet you go into the games and you see all with people Wear -- they all have character names and they they dress up like the players' characters. And so there was this thing that was just growing and growing so it was an easy choice because it's so true it's a continuation of a phenomenon that's happening up there at AT&T park. And so we you know were riding that wave in. And keeping it going and the Giants and. If anything they were team made up of moments last year and moments in. Games that we're decider is that they had to win. Moments that happen within that were organic like Hunter Pence had this thing about speeches right and it rallied the team from that point on -- made the run. Always show the extended director's cut of 452 and you'll see this a lot in the 32 for. This the only place you get the 452 Adam and had to explain it next first Bryan let's watch Hunter Pence with the theme here. -- Giants go. In nineteen normal rest seems beaten them ahead. Well there was no one in Cincinnati. Looks like -- a song from there are about to be kicked out of the playoffs. When Nixon's. Flag what is flying around stuff what it was a monster and you moron but we drug the big man it's all over. Ballroom. Is so until we decide it is. The Germans bombed Pearl Harbor is. He's wrong in no way this when the going gets tough. -- Alan Lawson yeah that was a good. Okay that is brilliant that is really what we just saw right there. How did you guys come up with that one to -- one of the great films of all time. With one of the great giant moments of all time well if you you said it right we didn't we didn't really create anything as opposed to Mary -- things in. You know if you're ever out the park and the Giants -- down in the -- rally. Will play a series of things sometimes they played the the Indiana. Filmed there and a lot of times they -- the animal -- them and that's that we had this idea would if we recreated that. And so we went painstakingly. To get all the details exactly right from the shape but how else to the sweaters. I think the sweaters are pretty lost there is unbelievable the mustache to mustache on and that was a Brandon Brandon -- -- hilarious yeah I laughed openly when I saw him with a -- -- he did a great job and we converted the line from the film they talk about warmer the part of the of the dean dropped the big one in this will be converted to -- league was the Cincinnati player with a home run and second. To put him down 02 so that is a classic classic spot very funny. I can't less than thirty seconds how good the guys to work with them as they seem like they actually enjoy what they would. -- in these guys they're fantastic -- -- they're so into it and because they're doing it together and they're doing it as a group I think there's some one upmanship that comes along with that. They put themselves out there and they get themselves and is among comfortable places sometimes but -- they're great -- and get better every year there's really becoming actors you're absolutely right these these things ought to win some awards is in and or personal or an oval track and -- who -- that's not so bad Bryant chino baker street advertising. That is some magical magic.
