One of the more popular coaches on Bruce Bochy's staff is staying with the Giants organization.
Jose Alguacil, who was Bochy's first base coach, has been named manager of the Double-A Richmond Flying Squirrels. It's a homecoming of sorts for the energetic Alguacil, who was manager in Richmond in 2015. Alguacil did such an effective job that year that he caught the eye of the previous front office and soon was added to the big league staff.
Alguacil, like the majority of the previous coaching staff, was not brought back by Gabe Kapler. Ron Wotus will return as third base coach but the rest of Kapler's 11-man staff consists of eight newcomers to the Giants and two promotions from the minor leagues.

Alguacil has been with the Giants for 14 years and was first base coach for three seasons while also helping Wotus with infield instruction. Bench coach Kai Correa now will be the main coach for the big league club's infielders.
The rest of the previous staff has spread around. Hensley Meulens is the bench coach for the Mets and Matt Herges will be pitching coach for Madison Bumgarner's Diamondbacks. Alonzo Powell took a job in Japan, but there has been no word on previous pitching coach Curt Young or assistant hitting coach Rick Schu.
Bullpen catcher Taira Uematsu was among those retained by Kapler.

San Francisco Giants
Alguacil will have a familiar face as his pitching coach. Steve Kline is returning to Richmond after a stint with the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats. Double-A pitching coach Glenn Dishman will now hold the position in Sacramento, where Dave Brundage remains manager and Damon Minor still is the hitting coach.
Doug Clark, a former Giants prospect, will be the hitting coach in Double-A.
