All-Star voting update: Fox enters top 10; Domas remains out

The tireless efforts of Kings fans to spread the word of De'Aaron Fox's dominance were validated Thursday when the NBA revealed the Sacramento guard had entered the top 10 in the second All-Star fan voting update.

After being snubbed of recognition in the NBA's first update last week, Fox collected 221,068 votes to rank 10th among Western Conference guards. He replaced Warriors guard Jordan Poole, who initially was one of six Golden State players to be listed in the top 10.

Kings center Domantas Sabonis, however, was still left off the list.

Fox is averaging 23.8 points and 6.1 assists per game while shooting a career-high 50.2 percent from the field. He ranks second in total clutch points (99) and leads the NBA with an incredible 61.5 percent clip from the field during clutch time -- the final five minutes of games with a five-point scoring margin.

While Fox deserves plenty of All-Star consideration, Sabonis should be a shoo-in.

Sabonis leads the NBA in rebounding (12.4 per game) and total double-doubles, with 31. If Sabonis finishes the season at his current pace, he would be just the third NBA player since 1982-83 to tally at least 18 points and 12 rebounds per game while shooting 60 percent or better from the field.

Fox and Sabonis are the two biggest reasons why Sacramento (22-18) sits in fourth place in the West.

The good news for the Kings' star duo? Fan voting only accounts for 50 percent of the consideration to name All-Star starters, with NBA players and a media panel accounting for the other 50 percent. All-Star reserves are selected by head coaches in the conference.

Still, though, it's good to see Fox gain deserved recognition from NBA fans.
