Barry Zito

Barry Zito, who is working away in the minor leagues this season with the hope of make it back to the major leagues, hit a tiny speed bump over the weekend.

OAKLAND -– A’s players said their goodbyes to left-hander Scott Kazmir shortly before taking the field for Thursday’s matinee against the Toronto Blue Jays.

OAKLAND –- Early indications are that Scott Kazmir and the A’s might have dodged a bullet with his sore left shoulder.

Left-hander Drew Pomeranz is flying back to the Bay Area to have his throwing shoulder examined, and A’s manager Bob Melvin told reporters Tuesday that Pomeranz could join the disabled list.

SEATTLE – Given the A’s injury situation and current need for pitching depth, it begs the question:

Could Barry Zito eventually be part of the solution for Oakland?
