PHOENIX – The losses of inside linebackers Patrick Willis and Chris Borland has not prompted the 49ers to seriously consider a change with the 49ers’ defensive scheme.
A month ago, 49ers general manager Trent Baalke believed he had four inside linebackers who were capable of being starters in the NFL.
The 49ers on Friday tendered exclusive-rights free agents Michael Wilhoite and Tony Jerod-Eddie to retain their contract rights for the 2015 season.
General manager Trent Baalke recently stated he believes 49ers linebacker Michael Wilhoite can be a starter in the NFL. But he will not likely get that chance with the 49ers again this season.
