The San Jose Earthquakes sent six footballers to represent their respective countries in international play and when they return to face D.C. United at Avaya Stadium on Saturday, some will be happier with their play than others.
Chris Wondolowski and David Bingham
United States
After a slew of criticism during the week following a 2-0 loss to Guatemala City, the United States Men’s National Team responded with a flurry in a 4-0 win during the home match against Guatemala Tuesday night to keep their 2018 World Cup dreams alive.
Wondolowski and Bingham were called to Jurgen Klinsmann’s camp but neither saw any action in both matches.

With the win, the U.S. moves into second place in CONCACAF Semifinal Round World Cup Qualifying Group C, with seven points from four matches. The US can clinch a spot in the next round (the Hexagon) with a win against St. Vincent and the Grenadines and a Trinidad and Tobago win against Guatemala on September 2.
Fatai Alashe
United States Under-23
Alashe played 24 minutes in the US U-23s’ 1-1 draw on the road to Colombia in what many saw as a promising result for the United States in its bid to play Olympic soccer this summer.

But the tables turned quickly for the United States in the home match with Colombia beating the US 2-1, eliminating the United States from the Rio de Janiero summer games.
Alashe did not see any action in Game 2.
Simon Dawkins
Jamaica
Dawkins helped Jamaica earn a point against the top team in Group B, Costa Rica, playing 29 minutes in a 1-1 score in Game 1. Unfortunately for Jamaica, Costa Rica jumped all over them in Game 2, notching a 3-0 win.
Dawkins did not factor in Game 2.
Anibal Godoy and Alberto Quintero
Panama
Godoy and Quintero, San Jose midfielders, were the busiest of the Quakes playing internationally during the break. Godoy started and played 90 minutes in Game 1 and 39 minutes in Game 2, while Quintero started and played 71 minutes in Game 1 and 90 in Game 2 against Haiti.
Game 1 ended in a scoreless draw, but on Tuesday the San Jose duo propelled Panama to a 1-0 win.
With the win, Panama remains tied with Costa Rica for first place in the CONCACAF Semifinal Round World Cup Qualifying Group B.
The entire team will reconvene in San Jose on Saturday to face D.C. United in a special 20th Anniversary match commemorating the first game in Major League Soccer History. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. You can watch the game live on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area.
