The woman who's accused of trying to kidnap longtime 49ers quarterback Joe Montana's grandchild pleaded not guilty to a felony kidnapping charge Tuesday in Los Angeles County.
The LA County Sheriff's Department said in a statement (via KNBC-TV) Tuesday that Sodsai Dalzell, 39, has been charged with one count of attempted kidnapping of a victim younger than 14 years old and one count of first-degree burglary. Prosecutors told TMZ Sports earlier Tuesday that, if convicted, Dalzell could face up to eight years in state prison.
The Sheriff's Department confirmed TMZ Sports' Sunday report that Dalzell entered the Malibu home where Montana and his wife, Jennifer, were staying on Saturday night. Dalzell allegedly grabbed the Montana's 9-month-old granddaughter out of a playpen while she was sleeping. Law enforcement officials told the Associated Press that Jennifer pried the child out of Dalzerll's arms after asking for the woman to return the Montanas' grandchild.

Sheriff's deputies, according to TMZ Sports, were already on the Montanas' block dealing with a separate matter. Dalzell was found a few blocks away after someone in the home flagged down the deputies and explained the situation.

Joe Montana tweeted Sunday that he was "thankful that everybody is doing well" after "a scary situation."
Dalzell has a preliminary hearing set for October, according to TMZ Sports. The outlet reported that prosecutors set her bail at $200,000.
