Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson has long held the unofficial title of the greatest point guard in NBA history, and while certain current players have narrowed the gap, Magic remains No. 1 -- for now.
As for who is the second-best point guard ever, though, that is very much up for debate.
Warriors superstar Steph Curry has been surging up that list for the last decade, and he doesn't appear to be slowing down at all. Yes, Chris Paul, Oscar Robertson, Isaiah Thomas, John Stockton and others each have their respective arguments, but none of them changed the game like Curry has, and when his career is all said and done, he'll be a lot closer to No. 1 than No. 3 -- if not leapfrogging Magic altogether.

But wait. Not so fast, Washington Wizards coach Scott Brooks insists. There's another active point guard who has been breaking records and putting up enormous stats for quite a while now, and Brooks believes he, not Steph, is the second-best ever to play the position.
Warriors fans are well aware of the kind of talent that Russell Westbrook is, and are probably thankful he no longer resides in the Western Conference. Yes, he isn't the most efficient player -- especially when compared to Curry -- but he fills the stat sheet in a way that has never been seen before at the point guard position.

On Monday, Westbrook had a night to remember, finishing with 14 points, 21 rebounds (career-high) and 24 assists (also a career-high) in a win over the Indiana Pacers. It actually was his second career game with at least 20 rebounds and 20 assists, making him the only player in NBA history to accomplish the feat multiple times. He notched his 32nd triple-double of the season on Monday, and is guaranteed to conclude the season having averaged a triple-double for the fourth time in his career.
So, you can see why Brooks was full of praise for his point guard. And with more performances like that, more people are bound to think of Westbrook in the same light. We'll have to wait until both his and Curry's careers are completed to make a comprehensive comparison, but at this point, there won't be more than a handful of others who can compare to them.
