On Sunday, a report surfaced that claimed Phil Jackson recently had a phone conversation with Luke Walton regarding the Knicks' head coaching position.

According to Frank Isola of The New York Daily News, Walton told Jackson that he isn't currently interested in the job.

On Monday morning, Jackson tweeted the following message:

"Press accounts of coaching actions are untrue. Nobody has been asked nobody said no."

Soon thereafter, Isola clarified that Jackson didn't formally offer the job to Walton.

Walton played for Jackson with the Lakers, and reportedly turned down an assistant coaching position with the Knicks under Derek Fisher two years ago.

Jackson fired Fisher back in early February, and named Kurt Rambis the interim coach.

According to multiple reports, Jackson's preference is to bring Rambis back as the head coach next season.

Last week, Jackson reportedly reached out to former Warriors coach Mark Jackson to gauge his interest in the Knicks' job.
