The Indiana Pacers on Saturday signed center Andrew Bynum for the remainder of the season.

Terms of the deal were not released and Bynum is expected to join the team at some point next week.

Bynum, who missed all of last season with knee injuries, appeared in 24 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers this season before being traded to the Chicago Bulls with two future draft picks for Luol Deng on Jan. 7. In a salary-saving move, the Bulls released Bynum the next day before the second half of his $12 million contract became guaranteed.

The Pacers have the Eastern Conference's best record at 35-10. They have $2.1 million left of their midlevel exception, but are roughly $1.8 million below the luxury-tax threshold, according to ESPN.com.
