Draymond adjusts, ‘definitely' differences between Kerr, Walton

Under interim head coach Luke Walton, the Warriors went 39-4.

Over the team's first 43 games, Draymond Green averaged 14.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 7.4 assists, while shooting 41.4 percent from beyond the arc.

Steve Kerr returned to the sideline for Golden State's Jan. 22 game against Indiana, and over the next 28 games, Green averaged 12.4 points, 9.8 rebounds and 7.2 assists while shooting 28.1 percent from deep.

"Believe it or not, going back to Coach Kerr from Luke, it was different," Draymond explained after the Warriors' 102-94 win over the Wizards on Tuesday night. "And you know, I'm like a, I'm like one of those guys that, I like sticking to what I do. So I get used to certain things and it takes me a little while to transition.

"It's crazy like, ya, was a lot of stuff different? No. But, at the same time it was still a little different for me. So, I had to adjust back to that as well."

What was different?

"Like I said, it wasn't huge differences, but there were some things that were a little different," Green added.

Like the style of coaching?

"Definitely that," Green answered. "I shoot a bad shot, I'm hearing from coach Kerr. I shoot a bad one with Luke, he might tell me when I come to the sideline like, "Ay, we can get a better one." You know, so, just a little different, but we're still doing a lot of the same stuff."

It appears that Draymond has snapped out of his shooting slump.

In his last three games, he made 8-of-12 from 3-point territory, and 15-of-24 field goals overall.

He also racked up 30 assists.

Did his mentality change recently?

"My mentality is still the same. But it was kind of a period where I had to get back to my mentality to being the same," Green said. "Sometimes we fool ourselves too. That could be part of it as well. It could be no difference between coach Kerr and Luke. Sometimes we trick ourselves as well."

But isn't (Tom) Izzo similar to coach Kerr? He's going to give you an earful immediately. He's not going to wait, right?

"Definitely. But that was 4 years ago (laughing)."

Was Izzo getting on Draymond over the stretch of games he was struggling with his shot?

"He definitely was texting me like, 'Hey I don't know what's going on, but you need to get back, doing what you were doing.' And he's been texting me lately like, ‘Ah, you're playing well. Keep it up.' So, it's been cool, but, he never lays off."
