Draymond Green is playing the best basketball of his career by far.
The "heartbeat" of the Warriors, as Steve Kerr calls him, is averaging 12.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game.
He has started all 32 games this season and his 48 made 3-pointers are seven shy of the amount he made all last year.

Should he be an All-Star? His mother certainly thinks so.
Green's numbers don't scream "All-Star," but when you take into account his value on the defensive end of the floor and his intangibles, you could make a compelling case for the 24-year old jack-of-all-trades.
However, it's no doubt a long shot.

Only 12 players from the Western Conference will make the team: five starters (voted in by the fans) and seven reserves -- three "frontcourt" players, two "backcourt" players, and two players regardless of position.
When considering the most recent results of fan voting (which is presumably what Green's mother is referring to when she said "popularity contest"), Draymond has no chance of being a starter.
But based on the fact that the coaches vote for the reserves, is it possible they believe that Green is worthy?
Will they take into account that he is arguably the most important defender (he can guard all five positions) on the team that leads the league in opponents field goal percentage and boasts an NBA-best 27-5 record?
