Jackson on fired coach Erman: 'He made a mistake'

LOS ANGELES -- A little more than three weeks after being fired by the Warriors for was was described as a serious violation of company policy, former assistant coach Darren Erman has found another job.
Erman on Tuesday returned to the Celtics, the team that gave him his first NBA job.
The Warriors, on the advice of legal counsel, did not specify the reasons for Erman's dismissal, but it was reported early Tuesday by ESPN that Erman was secretly recording conversations among Warriors coaches and players.

Asked for a reaction to Erman's rapid recovery from what many assumed was a career-threatening breach, Warriors coach Mark Jackson issued a terse "no comment" prior to the team's shootaround ahead of Game 5 of their first-round playoff series against the Clippers.
When asked if Erman was the "architect" of the team's top-three defense, as described in a Yahoo! Sports report, Jackson laughed at that representation.
"Come on, man," Jackson said. "Seriously? He's an outstanding coach who did a great job.
"I am the architect of a 23-win season (in 20011-12). Give me credit for that; I'll probably take credit for it . . . with an incredible staff. Therefore, give the same credit, collectively, to my entire brilliant staff, including Mike Malone, Wes Unseld Jr., Bob Myers and Kris Weems, who's no longer with us."
The Warriors shortly thereafter issued a statement on behalf of the team:
"As previously stated, Darren Erman was terminated due to a violation of company policy. We were unaware of the violation, and when made aware, we took immediate action. We will have no further comment at this time."
After several years coaching at the high school and college level, Erman joined the Celtics as a scout in 2007 before becoming an assistant coach in 2008.
Erman was terminated by Warriors management near the end of his third season with the team.
