Ginobili: Beating Warriors ‘really doesn't seem possible'

The Spurs are 45-8 and just 3.5 games behind the Warriors for the top seed in the Western Conference.

Yet Manu Ginobili doesn't sound like a man who believes San Antonio can knock off Golden State.

"I know everyone is talking about how great Golden State is and we found out about it the hard way. People wonder what it would take to stop them and it really doesn't seem possible," Ginobili said last week in the Argentine newspaper La Nacion. "Obviously Curry can't have a good night. But the rest of the team can't have a good night either, like they had against us and in so many other games."

On Jan. 25, the 40-4 Warriors hosted the 38-6 Spurs.

The final score: Golden State 120, San Antonio 90.

Steph Curry score 37 points on 20 shots and the Warriors' bench racked up 53 points.

"I don't know if there's a way to beat them, but for now I don't care," Ginobili said. "I would in May or June. Beating them now only counts as one win, nothing more. They are going through a great stretch, playing truly extraordinary basketball and showing tremendous confidence and team spirit."

The Warriors lead the league in offensive rating and are second in defensive rating.

The Spurs lead the league in defensive rating and are third in offensive rating.

The Warriors host the Spurs on April 7 and play in San Antonio on March 19 and April 10.

It's unclear whether Ginobili will be available for those matchups, as he is recovering from testicular surgery.

For now, the two-time All-Star is focused on his rehab and the Spurs. He isn't getting worked up about how to solve the Warriors.

"We'll try to figure out how to beat them only when it's do-or-die time."
